Big steaming load of crap IMHO. Trying to delay it as long as possible in order to scuttle the process by allowing lots of time to smear Alito. Bush should come out and say that schedule is unacceptable, and the Senate should work through Xmas if needed. O'Conner should also stand up and tell the Senators they are lazy sacks of sh!t.

Vacations (Thanksgiving and Christmas) can't wait. Alito confirmation hearings will have to.
To: Peach
Shoot...all of the Senators that I have heard on the Senate floor today are angry that they might have to work tomorrow!!!

Evidently they'll be able to ask him whether he had a nice Thanksgiving...

Bush should come out and say that schedule is unacceptable, and the Senate should work through Xmas if needed. How do I know this will not happen?

Anybody surprised at Justice Delayed, Justice Denied? Specter. Piece of S***.

Other than providing DEMS with more time to try to dig up bad stuff on Alito, is this delay a big deal?
To: smokeman
Heavens forbid the Senate put aside part of its month-long recess to allow a woman who has served this country for decades to leave her job and spend time with her dying husband.
On the other hand, our wallets will be safer with most of the politicians out of Washington. And there will be fewer leaks of classified information from the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Specter is a sick R.I.N.O.
I wish Bush had not supported in his re-election bid...he'd of been beat if he hadn't received that support. We had a chance to rid ourselves of this R.I.N.O. The good ole' boys club in DC reigns.

That's only reasonable.
Imagine the terrible losses to toney foreign resorts if the US Senate didn't spend most of November through January on "informational" junkets.
Of course they could arrange to have the hearings by teleconference from their hotel suites' balconies whenever any of them were sober.
