[snip]...It is not surprising that your White House distrusts and/or despises the media, the CIA, the State Department's career officers, the United Nations and a host of other institutions that you could not control...People in those institutions were out to defy and/or get you.
But you and yours helped them accomplish the mission. One lesson available in this story is that amateurs are no match for the CIA in disinformation campaigns. The spies are far better at operating in the shadows than you politicians will ever be. They have a license to dissemble.
The hidden management of the criminal justice process and the news media practiced by spooks in Wilson-Rove-Libbygate is nothing short of brilliant. So you were right to fear the agency...
Fear probably caused you to keep the Clinton-appointed leadership in place at the CIA long after some of its top operatives mounted a rebellion against the White House, in part to shift attention from their failures to yours. I know that George Tenet charmed you, and the rest of us. That's what spies and spymasters do, sir. You should have been taking that into account...
...After Wilson's slanted account of his mission to Niger provoked a small hubbub over your 16-word reference to Iraq's seeking uranium, Britain reiterated repeatedly to the United States that it stood by its reporting on that topic -- which was not based in any way on the much-ballyhooed forgeries from Italy...
...Telling the public that there was an independent stream of intelligence, with all the problems and counterattacks it would have triggered from the opposition leakers, would have been better for you than aides' taking it on themselves to plant stealthy suggestions of nepotism at the CIA...[excerpts -- all emphasis added by me -- shhrub]

It is not satire. Of course he wants to take a smack at Bush, but what he is saying is this is what the CIA did to you even if it's partly your fault. This is quite amazing, imho. There is Toensing saying you ought to consider a CIA plot, Zell Miller saying doesn't this sound like a CIA plot, and now we have Hoagland at the WaPo on board. Who here ever trusted Tenet?
"Mr. Hoagland is, and always has been an ass."
There's a definite sly, mocking tone in this. But, it's the seemingly tacit assumptions underlying the mockery that are interesting, to say the least.
I believe THAT was canceled but I'm not certain. Was he on any of the Sunday shows? Fortunately, I missed them.
I suspect your take on this is right on the money. This is going to be good. Really, really good.
Only problem for the Dinasour Media, there is NO evidence of this. Even St Fritz was UNABLE to find any such "stealthy suggestions".
Follow the money©
Or Goss, like many a Republican before him, has Beltway fever.
The cat's out of the bag on this, I believe. Somebody wake me up if I'm dreaming!
Not to worry, it will be forgotten news by tomorrow.
Yes, and perhaps I'm a fool too.
But like stopped clocks, maybe asses and fools are sometimes right?
There's divided opinion here on the intent of this piece, so far. The FR jury's not quite in yet. Again, I'll grovel if this turns out to be satire and I was too ...uh, retarded... to get it.
Yes indeed!, read this. Lyin' Joe even uses his kids.

I'll up the ante on that: Was Joe Wilson involved in Oil for Food, directly or peripherally?
What exactly are Wilson's "business interests" in Niger?
Joe Wilson was on that horrible Keith Olbermann show last night.
I keep hoping and praying that something big is going to break in this traitorous story. Maybe Goss is getting to the bottom of moledom in the CIA.
"This is going to be good. Really, really good."
It could be quite a ride, for sure.
Strange series of events. All of these occurring right after the Reid tantrum. Perhaps ole Rove lined up the ducks right after the Rockerfeller memo leak and waited for the Dems to pull their trigger and now comes some Shock and Awe wooop pass!
I can only dream!
YOU should ask for an investigation.
Call the RNC, The White House, your Senator, your Congressman...
So....a secret organization within the US government has attempted a coup?
Does he really believe this? Do I? And where do we turn to protect the country if this is so?
Heads roll? Treason? Sedition?
I want answers. This is a super serious charge and should be eveyone's concern.
That's what I thought from the first couple of paragraphs.
But I kept reading and decided the intial scolding tone was just liberal cover for what was to follow. I took that as Hoagland's saying, "I'm still no fan of the Bush White House, BUT..."
Again, I could be wrong. This piece could be tongue-firmly-planted-in-cheek. I'm still waiting to be convinced of that, though.
If you are correct, it would make sense why the story was suddenly dropped after Hannity broke it ON THE AIR!
No need to grovel. This IMO is the kind of MSM piece that takes a couple of bushel bags of tea leaves and dumps them on top of the truth. Some kind of message is being sent here, but it ain't to the likes of us.
