Paper Calls Clarence Thomas 'Black Man With An Asterisk' (Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
NewsMax.com ^ | Nov. 1, 2005 | Staff

An editorial in the Tuesday edition of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal ssems to call into question the content and character behind the color of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' skin.

The newspaper - openly liberal by value of this opinion piece - is chock full of buzzwords straight out of the Democrat Party talking-points used to dsecribe the nomination of Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Saying the Alito nomination "lessens the nation's rich diversity," the editors argue that Alito's mere presence as a man should disqualify him from the opportunity to replace Sandra Day O'Connor on the High Court.

Apparently, the Journal-Sentinel editors view the "O'Connor seat" as a female entitlement.

Most troubling, however, is the degrading, racil slap the editors make at Thomas:

"In losing a woman, the court with Alito would feature seven white men, one white woman, and a black man, who deserves an asterisk because he arguably does not represent the views of mainstream black America."

Will the Journal-Sentinel editors be given a free pass by their media colleagues for using such derogatory and disrepectful language - not only to Thomas, but to all blacks and all Americans?

I bet that if this were a newspaper with even a slight conservative slant that the media would be all over it.

because he arguably does not represent the views of mainstream black America.

Thomas should tell them to kiss his asterisk.

This is the first time that I have every heard of anyone being excluded from an ethnic group because of what they think. I'm not black, but I would be deeply insulted by some lily white editor telling me what "your people" are supposed to think. Is there any other ethnic group that is required to think in a certain way? Why doesn't the black community rise up in anger against such suggestions?

You've got to understand, if African-americans figure out that the Republican party isn't a party of "RACISTS" but actually empowers them to succeed, the Democrats are finished. They need to keep the myth alive to sustain their power.

"because he arguably does not represent the views of mainstream black America."

I don't think he represents the views of any color, he represents good in the human race.

The real insult in this is that for Justice Thomas to be considered a real black man he has to believe in:

Affirmative Action (racial discrimination)
Abortion (something that has decimated the black community)
Gun Control (something used to keep blacks defenseless in the Klan era)
The need for government to be responsible for people's lives
To behave like a house Negro for all the white folk who made him what he is.......

Yuck

Liberals think that "real blacks" are only those who live down to their expectations.

"because he arguably does not represent the views of mainstream black America."

Good.

He is not supposed to.

He is supposed to represent the Constitution of the United States. They really do think the court is there to impose a liberal version of law on society. One that Thomas should have only because he is black. Do they want Scallia to represent his heritage? Would they have wanted Renquist to represent his background? One sided liberal bigots.

I can hardly believe that some of the things I am hearing and seeing are being said by citizens of the United States and/or their mouthpieces.
