Syria and Iran obtain German missile technology, magazine says (thru Russia)
Deutsche Presse-Agentur ^ | Nov 5, 2005
Posted on 11/05/2005 11:13:26 PM PST by F14 Pilot
Munich - Berlin has warned German industry that missile- builders in Iran and Syria are obtaining sophisticated German equipment via criminal, Moscow-based companies, the news magazine Focus reported Saturday.
The equipment was initially being legally exported to Moscow, where the middlemen, posing as legitimate Russian industrial companies and research institutions, were sending it straight to Iran and Syria.
In the report, to hit the streets Monday and released in advance to the news media, Focus said the method was explained in a confidential warning to many German companies to be on the lookout for the ruse.
It said Iran was obtaining measuring devices, propulsion systems and guidance systems to enhance its Shahab 3 medium-range missile. The Shahab 3 is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead and could hit targets in Europe since it has a 3,500-kilometre range.
Syria was obtaining such systems to modernize its outdated Russian-built Scud missiles, the magazine said. The Scuds are mainly seen as a threat to Israel.
The Berlin warning named 15 firms with addresses in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Samara which had been involved in such illegal deals in the past. Among them was an institute attached to the State Technical University of Moscow.
It was not clear from the Focus report whether militarily useful equipment had already reached Iran and Syria using the ruse.
OPINION: Makes sense to me, granny.
Birds of a feather...
Agree.....primary is still a major caliber that I have carried since age of 16 and for my 26 years of military service. I hit the range once a week still, sometimes twice a week. In the service I had the use of shoot houses to 'create the stress and later as a Deputy Sheriff the training game was simunitions. I learned that greying out , kind of like a fighter pilot does, only ya stay awake, under high G forces was a real concern during gunfights.
We'd tape our tranining scenerios and review afterwards . The instructors would ask why we did this or that and we'd honestly swear on moms grave we didn't do such......the tapes didn't lie. Yet just the pucker factor of training at first would lock up your mind. I would do speed or tactical reloads repetedly like a blithering idgit under fire. The training was so good it created the fear and confusion I experienced later on in my career.
I learned early on that regardless of ones firepower in hand it is friggin useless if you have not the ability and will power to keep thinking and yer noggin in serious swivel mode.
I have seen units in the IDF and Israeli secret service use the little beretta 70 & 71S .22 automatics (not made any more) in such a surgical and precise manner to the right eye left eye, knee cap or hit in the motors agressors to "stop" them.
My selection of a .22 (as a backup) was based on how I had personally seen its use in training with some of those folks. Hits are key IMHO, placement is nice yet not as important as multiple hits, fast and accurate center mass when the threat is close. If the threat is far enough away to allow I'll go to cover everytime vs trying to return fire.
As a retired serviceman and former LEO I have no legal authority . As a civilian I am obligated to avoid, evade and stop the threat of deadly force against me and mine. I have no more free ammo days with uncle sugar or the county taxpayers dime'n time. Thus the closest I get to threat scenerios is participating three gun matches and IDPA. More fun than training per se yet it's trigger time that reinforces past musclematic memory skills and enhances my point shooting skills.
Be it .22 or 45ACP.......training and teaching your mind and body the martial art of shooting under high stress. And I mean sh*t and go blind stress.
Stay safe AD !!....Hope you and yours is well. Always like to read and learn from others experiences. Thanks for sharing with me.

Calls to jihad in Australia
"A call to hate and to prayer," from The Australian, with thanks to Scaramouche:
It's October 21, the middle of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month, and Sheik Abdul Salam Mohammed Zoud, who has been living in Australia since the mid-1990s, stands on a platform at the front of the room reading his sermon in Arabic.
"Ramadan is not a month for indolence," he screams through a lapel microphone, drawing on Koranic parables about the importance of annihilating al-adou (the enemy) and stressing the Koranic obligation of jihad (spiritual struggle or holy war) during the month of fasting. His voice can be heard clearly in the car park outside.
"Ramadan is a month for jihad upon oneself and jihad upon the enemy," he says, a time when followers must become more disciplined in adhering to the message of the Koran, and more willing and prepared to topple the enemy of Islam: the West.
Listeners nod approvingly as Zoud praises mujaheddin - guerilla warriors engaged in holy war - who are waging bloody battles against Western troops across the world, and implores Allah to grant them victory in their fight against the enemies of Islam.
"Allah yinsur el-mujaheddin fe-Iraq (God grant victory to the mujaheddin in Iraq)," he screams, his voice crackling as he defies his own vocal range. He then repeats the message three times, each time screaming it louder and with more intensely.
Twice at the end of the 35-minute oration in front of the men, who are mostly in their 30s and 40s, the sheik exclaims in a voice filled with angst and passion, blame and hate: "Inshallah (God willing) dark days will descend upon America soon."
Two Fridays earlier, at a prayer centre at Michael Street in Brunswick, Melbourne's Muslim heartland, the man regarded as Australia's most radical imam, Sheik Mohammed Omran, stands before his mixed band of followers....
He says Islamic unity and victory in the face of the West cannot be "stopped by George Bush or Tony Blair or John Howard".
"If you don't unite, your faces will be smeared in dirt," he adds.
Both Zoud's and Omran's prayer groups teach Wahhabism, a fundamentalist branch of Islam founded in Saudi Arabia in the 1700s that inspired the former Taliban regime in Afghanistan and is preached by the world's most notorious terrorist: Osama bin Laden, leader of al-Qa'ida....
Zoud has formerly been accused of having links to terror suspects and recruiting for jihad. And although he has denied such accusations, he cannot deny the fact his prayer centre, located in Sydney's Muslim heartland, has attracted terror suspects, including Frenchman Willie Brigitte, arrested and deported to Paris in 2003 for allegedly plotting a bomb attack on Sydney's naval base; and former Qantas baggage handler Bilal Khazal, who is facing terrorism-related charges in Australia.
Friday sermons at the Haldon Street and Michael Street prayer centres are predominantly geared towards political issues affecting Muslims across the world. The US and President George W. Bush figure prominently in Zoud's and Omran's sermons.
"Last night, President Bush said that the so-called fanatic Muslims would like to build an empire reaching from Indonesia to Spain," Omran said during his October 7 sermon. "And he has not said anything as truer or more accurate. What is wrong with doing that? ... What are we doing to achieve that objective?"
Omran's call to action goes even further during a Friday sermon at Michael Street conducted the following week by Harun Abu Talha, news editor of Mecca News, published by the Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaah organisation led by Omran.
During the predominantly English qutbah, the cleric says: "We should not compromise our deen [religion] for the sake of peace." It is a message greeted by collective nods from a group of more than 100 men, many of whom were present at Omran's sermon the previous Friday....
While Naji al-Imam's service is purely religious, Abu Talha, who is believed to be Bosnian, discusses "our brothers and sisters" who are dying at the hands of Western troops in Afghanistan and begins to discuss the importance of jihad before quipping: "We cannot say too much about mujaheddin in this country." The joke elicits sniggers and laughter from the group....

"It's Let's Roll, Not Let's roll over"
By Ann Coulter
About Iraq and the diary of Siddiuque, who was arrested.
If the gate does not open, that would be a real disaster.
I can see terrorists entering and the gate not opening for the good guys to leave or the police to enter.
Or a fire, same scene.
Not good at all.
Jus had a couple books by American traitors also reviewed, but I did not bother to read about them.
sheehan and ritter, and the owner of jus. are in my opinion , not to be called Americans.
I understand how you feel.
A must read on Paris riots:
http://www.ww4report.com/node/1253
A snipped portion from the middle of article:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Media accounts have generally overlooked that the riots erupted
days after sensational claims that French police were investigating
plans by a group of Islamic extremists to attack targets in Paris.
The accounts claimed the group was recruiting French citizens to
train in the Middle East and return home to carry out terrorist
attacks.
One French official said the extremists were using an
"underground railroad" through Syria to bring European and
Middle Eastern citizens in and out of Iraq. An anonymous senior
French law enforcement official said that French citizens had
undergone terrorist training at camps in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon.
"There's always been an enormous jihad zone to train people to
fight in their country of origin," the official said. "We saw it
Afghanistan, in Bosnia, in Kosovo, and now we're seeing it in
Iraq."
He said the French cell under investigation "is linked with
networks in Iraq, right now, through an individual based in Syria.
Now we're finding camps in Syria and Lebanon, and it's the same
pattern, training in explosives and chemical weapons, which is an
obsession of the jihadists."
In a recent television interview, Sarkozy, called the terror risk for
Paris "very high," adding, ''We know that there are about 10 young
Frenchmen in Iraq, ready to become kamikazes."
"One asks himself why a certain number of young French people
are in Pakistan in religious schools," Sarkozy said. "It's not normal
that an individual who lives in our neighborhoods leaves all of a
sudden for four months in Afghanistan, three months in Syria. We
want to know who is going where, for how long, and when they
come back." (Boston Globe, Oct. 19)
You'd think, but it is likely that they are relying upon the MSM they are going to (continue) to be grossly uninformed.
Good find! Thanks for posting that. I think there are a whole bunch of people using each other to continue the violence. The jihadists would be fools not to take advantage of the situation.
I am praying that none of us were in the tornado zone early this morning. Please please, if you can, check in so we know that you are safe!
It is so late in the season for tornado's and for it to hit at 2 am is just so out of character.
Praying that there will not be more casualties than have already been reported.
pardon all spelling and grammar please, just now having that first cup of coffee.
Well, it's stopped one embassy from getting in and out already. If Ottawa is the "test" area, imagine the implications if used here in certain cities.... They are referring to it in Canada as a "mysterious signal."
Oh yes we can. Idiots, communists, maoists, and faded "stars" who are attempting to usher in The New World Order and a third world USA. Those FEMA camps would be a good place for them to gather together to commiserate IMHO. Bandanas around the neck (che style) for the revolutionaries - now that's a look - the look of a traitor advocating government overthrow.
