The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

What's become of bin Laden since he gave us all the slip?
Full Story

Some think he is dead, others that he is hiding because he is scared of being killed.

Whatever the reason for the strange disappearance of Osama bin Laden, not seen alive since his last mocking video statement a year ago, he is no longer the face of the global "jihad" against the West.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi { TM 25,TM 27 }, the Jordanian responsible for some of the worst atrocities in Iraq, has become the hero of the hour on militant Islamist websites.

Iraq: Al-Zarqawi Announces Election Eve Offensive
AKI ^ | Dec 14 2005

Posted on 12/14/2005 9:07:40 AM PST by jmc1969

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, has made new threats of terrorist attacks, timed to coincide with general elections on Thursday. The threats are in contrast with the appeal of another insurgent group, the Islamic Army in Iraq, for no attacks on polling stations as Iraqis vote.

"The lions of monotheism of the organisation of al-Qaeda have launched a new blessed military offensive against the seats of apostates and infidels to force into crisis the blasphemous democratic marriage" reads a statement posted on Islamist websites.

The communique says that al-Zarqawi's followers are ready for attacks in areas of Baghdad, in the restive western province of al-Anbar, nearby Salahuddin, in Mosul and Diyala.

"Until now we have struck the coves of the crusaders and the infidels" it says, which are in the Green Zone in Baghdad and in particular the interior ministry, the US base and the headquarters of the secret services." It said that for these attacks they used Tariq Karrad and Katiusha missiles and 120mm Hawn rockets.

The group said it would be publishing updates giving further details of the purported military offensive.

These are all cities that have shown up in past threats. Funny how this "three-day test" is coming just around the Iraqi election. It's as if they're bracing us for something big.

"Judge Says Ohio Shooting Not Terrorism"
Dec 14th - 12:38pm

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "CLEVELAND (AP) - A judge dismissed a terrorism charge Wednesday against a former graduate student accused of a seven-hour university shooting rampage, but 201 other counts, including aggravated murder, remain.
Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Peggy Foley said the attack against a "small, random" group of people in Case Western Reserve University's business school building did not constitute a terrorist attack on the civil population as defined by Ohio law.

The request by Biswanath Halder's attorneys to dismiss the terrorism charge was among several motions Foley had to consider before his trial headed to closing arguments.

One person was killed and two wounded in the May 9, 2003, shootings.
Prosecutors say Halder, 65, went to the university's business school with more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition because he believed a school computer lab employee hacked into his Web site devoted to helping fellow India natives form businesses."

And now for an update on the Muslim gender war….

Where to start???

Here’s one: on December 7th in Riadyh, an announcement by the Philippine Embassy to its domestic workers in Saudi Arabia will probably take the prize for 2005’s Fatuous Double Speak Award.

Philippine Embassy officials have reminded Filipino women in the Kingdom to avoid going out of their residence at night so as not to get into trouble.

They also urged compatriots not to encourage workers who have complaints against their employers to run away because doing so would only complicate matters.
Want to know why this particular piece of advice — fabricated so as to cover the maximum amount of Embassy gluteus maximus — was issued?

For the same reason all of their pronouncements to their domestic workers are extruded from the wind-up doll they use to make these assinine statements: another domestic worker attempted to escape her Saudi employer and ran from the frying pan into the fire. When her story became public knowledge, they were forced to haul out the robot and push the right words through his mouth tube. Here’s what the tin man said:

Filipino women: Do-not-go-out-of-residence-at-night-in-Kingdom-You-will-get-into-trouble-Do-not-encourage-other-workers-to- run-away-Running-away-complicates-matters.

The victim told embassy officials that she ran away at about 8 p.m. one night last month to avoid the alleged sexual advances of her employer.
“I was walking hurriedly when five young men pulled me into a pickup and drove me to a house just a few blocks away from my employer’s residence,” she said.
She said seven young men took turns on her and gave her away later to another group of five young men, who also gang-raped her inside a tinted van as they cruised along the streets.
The rapists were reportedly playing full-volume music and her cry for help were apparently unheard.
She said her attackers also took her gold earrings and necklace plus SR1,000 cash.
Embassy personnel found her on a street seven hours later, almost naked. She was placed under the custody of Bahay Kalinga (shelter house) and given medical treatment.
She stayed at the shelter about a month and declined to file any charges. Her former employer returned her visa to her and paid her plane fare back to Manila. Wasn’t that nice of him? Maybe it was a birthday present: she turned twenty while staying at the refuge for battered domestics.

That’s one story. Wash, rinse, repeat endlessly in the Kingdom of Evil Saud. I’d have harsher words for the Philippine Embassy except that they’re caught between a rock and a hard place. These domestic slaves pump a lot of money back into the home economy. At least when they’re paid they do.

For the next Muslim gender war story, we fly on to Sweden, where Muslim immigrant men make no excuses for their treatment of Swedish infidel women: “It is not as wrong raping a Swedish girl as raping an Arab girl,” says Hamid [link is in Swedish]. “The Swedish girl gets a lot of help afterwards, and she had probably fucked before, anyway. But the Arab girl will get problems with her family. For her, being raped is a source of shame. It is important that she retains her virginity until she marries.” It was no coincidence that it was a Swedish girl that was gang raped in Rissne – this becomes obvious from the discussion with Ali, Hamid, Abdallah and Richard. All four have disparaging views on Swedish girls, and think this attitude is common among young men with immigrant background. “It is far too easy to get a Swedish whore…… girl, I mean;” says Hamid, and laughs over his own choice of words. “Many immigrant boys have Swedish girlfriends when they are teenagers. But when they get married, they get a proper woman from their own culture who has never been with a boy. That’s what I am going to do. I don’t have too much respect for Swedish girls. I guess you can say they get fucked to pieces.”
The rate of rape and other violent crimes by Muslim immigrants in Sweden is difficult to ascertain. Sweden’s suicidal multi-cultural choke on freedom of the press makes it hard to know exactly how many young women are being victimized. The most basic of freedoms, the inviolability of the person, has been tied to a rock, put in a burlap bag, and dropped into the sea in Sweden. The ugly sister, P.C.-Speak, has taken Liberty's place.

But the numbers of victims are not nearly so important nor as lethal as the motive behind the systematic degradation of women by Muslim men. As Fjordman says: The number of rapes committed by Muslim immigrants in Western nations are so extremely high that it is difficult to view them only as random acts of individuals. It resembles warfare. Muhammad himself had forced sex (rape) with several of his slave girls/concubines. This is perfectly allowed, both in the sunna and in the Koran. If you postulate that many of the Muslims in Europe view themselves as a conquering army and that European women are simply war booty, it all makes perfect sense and is in full accordance with Islamic law. Western women are not so much regarded by most Muslims as individuals, but as "their women," the women who "belong" to hostile Infidels. They are booty, to be taken, just as the land of the Infidels someday will drop, it is believed, into Muslim hands. This is not mere crime, but ideologically-justified crime or rather, in Muslim eyes, attacks on Infidels scarcely qualify as crime. Western women are cheap and offensive. We Muslims are here, here to stay, and we have a right to take advantage of this situation. It is our view of the matter that should prevail. Western goods, like the land on which we now live, belong to Allah and to the best of men -- his Believers. Western women, too, essentially belong to us -- our future booty. No wonder there is a deep and increasing suspicion against Muslims in the Swedish and European public.
What Fjordman says makes sense in one context, but not in all of them. Many of the Indonesian victims of gang rape in Saudi Arabia are Muslim girls, not infidel whores. This is just another example of taqiyya at work.

Islam practices misogyny of a most muderous kind. All women — not just infidel women — are potential booty. Objects. Disposable containers. One has only to observe how women are treated in Muslim countries to know you wouldn’t want to be a Muslim woman if you had any say about it.

But Swedish girls want to fight back so they've invented something to protect themselves: A group of Swedish teenage girls has designed a belt that requires two hands to remove and which they hope will deter would-be rapists…
"It's like a reverse chastity belt," one of the creators, 19-year-old Nadja Björk, [said]… meaning that the wearer is in control, instead of being controlled.
The military-style buckle has a latch that the wearer has to move through a labyrinth into the correct position in order to unlock the belt.
"You need two hands to open it, so the rapist can't hold you down and open it at the same time. It takes a while to figure it out if you don't know what you're doing," she said.
The product was designed as part of a high school project in entrepreneurship and the girls have already sold 300 of the belts in Sweden, priced at 150 kronor.
Björk and one of her partners now plan to start a business to mass produce the belts and are currently in negotiations with potential partners.
"But I'm not doing this for the money," she said. "I'm really passionate about stopping rape…
Her youth and passion are endearing. However, wait till one of those young women run into a group of Muslim men who don’t find their protection of themselves amusing. Nadja, how many times do you have to get punched before you’ll gladly undo that belt buckle you invented? It’s not just rape, my dear, it’s systematic degradation. If you don’t understand this, ask your fellow countrywoman, who made the mistake of going out to celebrate New Year's Eve with a friend. Here's how her year ended at the hands of five Somali Muslims. Do you think, Nadja, that your belt would have helped her? I don't. I think it would have enraged her attackers even more. They don't let you have guns over there, do they, my girl? Lacking armament, I suggest you consider the oldest weapon women have: men. Belt or no belt, don't leave home without several testosterone-filled humans for back-up.

Otherwise, until your country can make some provision for protection of its women, move here and join the NRA. We'd love to have an entrepreneurial soul like you.

Iraqi, Coalition Forces Capture Terrorists, Seize Weapons

American Forces Press Service

WASHINGTON, Dec. 14, 2005 – Iraqi Army troops and coalition forces captured 11 insurgents and seized six caches Dec. 13 in operations southeast of Baqubah, Iraq, military officials reported today.
The caches included eight anti-tank mines, six 155 mm artillery rounds, 48 assorted rockets, 48 mixed mortars rounds, 16 anti-personnel rocket-propelled grenades, 26 RPG boosters and a mortar tube assembly. Explosive ordnance disposal personnel were called in to destroy the munitions. The suspects are being detained pending further investigation.

Also on Dec. 13, Iraqi army soldiers and coalition forces uncovered a cache hidden in a cave north of Husaybah.

Troops found an RPG system, eight rockets, two cases of small machine-gun ammunition and an extra machine-gun barrel. Mattresses and other items suggested the cave was used as an insurgent safe house, officials said. The cache was destroyed in place, and the weapons were turned over to authorities.

Soldiers from the 3rd Brigade, 4th Battalion, 1st Iraqi Intervention Force, and coalition forces discovered a cache and a functioning roadside bomb Dec. 13 south of Fallujah after receiving a tip.

In addition to the bomb, the cache contained 20 120 mm mortar rounds, 17 88 mm mortar rounds, three 60 mm mortar rounds, a 150 mm artillery round, two guided missiles, six kilograms of TNT, three RPG rounds, a box of 20 mm anti-aircraft rounds, a machine gun and a box of machine gun ammunition.

A cordon of the area was established while the cache was inventoried and transported to a location where it was destroyed, officials said.

Iraqi police arrested five people who were transporting a bomb in their vehicle Dec. 12.

Police stopped the car at a checkpoint and one passenger jumped out of the vehicle and tried to escape. The suspect was caught, and the rest of the car's occupants were arrested after further investigation produced a concealed explosive device.

The bomb consisted of a 60 mm mortar round, TNT and plastic explosive contained in a metal box.

The provincial explosive ordnance disposal team took custody of the bomb, and the detainees were turned over to the Najaf police anti-crime Unit for processing and further investigation.

The Pentagon Breaks the Islam Taboo

By Paul Sperry
FrontPageMagazine.com | December 14, 2005

Washington's policy-makers have been careful in the war on terror to distinguish between Islam and the terrorists. The distinction has rankled conservatives who see scarce difference.

A little-noticed speech by President Bush in October gave them some hope. In a major rhetorical shift, he described the enemy as "Islamic radicals" and not just "terrorists," although he still denies that radicalism has anything to do with their religion.

Now for the first time, a key Pentagon intelligence agency involved in homeland security is delving into Islam's holy texts to answer whether Islam is being radicalized by the terrorists or is already radical. Military brass want a better understanding of what's motivating the insurgents in Iraq and the terrorists around the globe, including those inside America who may be preparing to strike domestic military bases. The enemy appears indefatigable, even more active now than before 9/11.

Are the terrorists really driven by self-serving politics and personal demons? Or are they driven by religion? And if it's religion, are they following a manual of war contained in their scripture?

Answers are hard to come by. Four years into the war on terror, U.S. intelligence officials tell me there are no baseline studies of the Muslim prophet Muhammad or his ideological or military doctrine found at either the CIA or Defense Intelligence Agency, or even the war colleges.

But that is slowly starting to change as the Pentagon develops a new strategy to deal with the threat from Islamic terrorists through its little-known intelligence agency called the Counterintelligence Field Activity or CIFA, which staffs hundreds of investigators and analysts to help coordinate Pentagon security efforts at home and abroad. CIFA also supports Northern Command in Colorado, which was established after 9/11 to help military forces react to terrorist threats in the continental United
States.

Dealing with the threat on a tactical and operational level through counterstrikes and capture has proven only marginally successful. Now military leaders want to combat it from a strategic standpoint, using informational warfare, among other things. A critical part of that strategy involves studying Islam, including the Quran and the hadiths, or traditions of Muhammad.

"Today we are confronted with a stateless threat that does not have at the strategic level targetable entities: no capitals, no economic base, no military formations or installations," states a new Pentagon briefing paper I've obtained. "Yet political Islam wages an ideological battle against the non-Islamic world at the tactical, operational and strategic level. The West's response is focused at the tactical and operation level, leaving the strategic level -- Islam -- unaddressed."

So far the conclusions of intelligence analysts assigned to the project, who include both private contractors and career military officials, contradict the commonly held notion that Islam is a peaceful religion hijacked or distorted by terrorists. They've found that the terrorists for the most part are following a war-fighting doctrine articulated through Muhammad in the Quran, elaborated on in the hadiths, codified in Islamic or sharia law, and reinforced by recent interpretations or fatwahs.

"Islam is an ideological engine of war (Jihad)," concludes the sensitive Pentagon briefing paper. And "no one is looking for its off switch."

Why? One major reason, the briefing states, is government-wide "indecision [over] whether Islam is radical or being radicalized."

So, which is it? "Strategic themes suggest Islam is radical by nature," according to the briefing, which goes on to cite the 26 chapters of the Quran dealing with violent jihad and the examples of the Muslim prophet, who it says sponsored "terror and slaughter" against unbelievers.

"Muhammad's behaviors today would be defined as radical," the defense document says, and Muslims today are commanded by their "militant" holy book to follow his example. It adds: Western leaders can no longer afford to overlook the "cult characteristics of Islam."

It also ties Muslim charity to war. Zakat, the alms-giving pillar of Islam, is described in the briefing as "an asymmetrical war-fighting funding mechanism." Which in English translates to: combat support under the guise of tithing. Of the eight obligatory categories of disbursement of Muslim charitable donations, it notes that two are for funding jihad, or holy war. Indeed, authorities have traced millions of dollars received by major jihadi terror groups like Hamas and al-Qaida back to Saudi and other foreign Isamic charities and also U.S. Muslim charities, such as the Holy Land Foundation.

According to the Quran, jihad is not something a Muslim can opt out of. It demands able-bodied believers join the fight. Those unable -- women and the elderly -- are not exempt; they must give "asylum and aid" (Surah 8:74) to those who do fight the unbelievers in the cause of Allah.

In analyzing the threat on the domestic front, the Pentagon briefing draws perhaps its most disturbing conclusions. It argues the U.S. has not suffered from scattered insurgent attacks -- as opposed to the concentrated and catastrophic attack by al-Qaida on 9-11 -- in large part because it has a relatively small Muslim population. But that could change as the Muslim minority grows and gains more influence.

The internal document explains that Islam divides offensive jihad into a "three-phase attack strategy" for gaining control of lands for Allah. The first phase is the "Meccan," or weakened, period, whereby a small Muslim minority asserts itself through largely peaceful and political measures involving Islamic NGOs -- such as the Islamic Society of North America, which investigators say has its roots in the militant Muslim Brotherhood, and Muslim pressure groups, such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations, whose leaders are on record expressing their desire to Islamize America.

In the second "preparation" phase, a "reasonably influential" Muslim minority starts to turn more militant. The briefing uses Britain and the Netherlands as examples.

And in the final jihad period, or "Medina Stage," a large minority uses its strength of numbers and power to rise up against the majority, as Muslim youth recently demonstrated in terrorizing France, the Pentagon paper notes.

It also notes that unlike Judaism and Christianity, Islam advocates expansion by force. The final command of jihad, as revealed to Muhammad in the Quran, is to conquer the world in the name of Islam. The defense briefing adds that Islam is also unique in classifying unbelievers as "standing enemies against whom it is legitimate to wage war."

Right now political leaders don't understand the true nature of the threat,\ it says, because the intelligence community has yet to educate them. They still think Muslim terrorists, even suicide bombers, are mindless "criminals" motivated by "hatred of our freedoms," rather than religious zealots motivated by their faith. And as a result, we have no real strategic plan for winning a war against jihadists.

Even many intelligence analysts and investigators working in the field with the Joint Terrorism Task Forces have a shallow understanding of Islam.

"I don't like to criticize our intelligence services, because we did win the Cold War," says a Northern Command intelligence official. "However, all of these organizations have made only limited progress adjusting to the current threat or the sharing of information."

Why? "All suffer heavily from political correctness," he explains.

PC still infects the Pentagon, four years after jihadists hit the nation's military headquarters.

"A lot of folks here have a very pedestrian understanding of Islam and the Islamic threat," a Pentagon intelligence analyst working on the project told me. "We're getting Islam 101, and we need Islam 404."

The hardest part of formulating a strategic response to the threat is defining Islam as a political and military enemy. Once that psychological barrier has been crossed, defense sources tell me, the development of countermeasures -- such as educating the public about the militant nature of Islam and exploiting "critical vulnerabilities" or rifts within the Muslim faith and community -- can begin.

"Most Americans don't realize we are in a war of survival -- a war that is going to continue for decades," the Northcom official warns.

It remains to be seen, however, whether our PC-addled political leaders would ever adopt such controversial measures.

You should be thanking me as well.

I do thank you! My computer is an oldie and going back to find your original post would have set me back 1/2 hour or more when I posted that. Sorry for the exclusion, but it was not meant personally. One of these days I'll be updating my computer and THEN navigating these threads won't be so much of a challenge for me. My computer is actually older than Granny's and my sign-on is much less powerful as well. I'm just thankful I have a computer and thankful people like YOU and Granny are posting here! (smiling and knowing you understand).
