I don't eat much lettuce either. Butter lettuce is about it, only if organic. I noticed in the market the other day some frozen veggies now come from Mexico. PictSweet was nice enough to say they are from the USA!! I am going to e-mail them and tell them how glad I am to see that.
Yes I read that post and Granny's as well. My response to LucyT right above this are my lettuce and veggie thoughts. :)
I must say it's pretty pathetic that a country with all the technology we have now has to worry about this kind of stuff.
That's the problem and folks that don't complete their treatment plan of antibiotics. I used to do that myself trying to stock up on antibiotics.
I am hopelessly behind tonight and have the Nascar banquet to attend virtualy. :)

Police stop truck carrying missile launchers on Toronto-area highway
Intelligence Summit 2006 ^
Posted on 12/02/2005 2:55:46 PM CST by Alex Marko
TORONTO - The army is looking into a bizarre incident in which a tractor-trailer loaded with anti-aircraft missile launchers was seen rolling down a major Ontario highway.
Several police cruisers were needed to pull over the vehicle as it travelled westbound on Highway 407 near Toronto.
The trailer was carrying two armoured personnel carriers bearing Department of National Defence licence plates and loaded with anti-aircraft missile launchers.
Police say the carriers, formerly registered to the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, were supposed to be delivered to Montreal on Thursday.
Police took the driver into custody at the scene, and the armoured carriers have been taken to a storage depot.
A spokeswoman for the Department of National Defence says the army is investigating.
"At this point, I don't have any confirmation on anything," said Lieut. Morgan Bailey.
The local news just "blurbed" a 5 second spot on the evacuations. Milwaukee . . .
Snip: Question: A few weeks ago I saw a television program that advertised a report on parasites stating that many people feel ill all the time because of parasites. I would like to know if this could be true and what can be done about it? Are there over the counter medications for parasites?
Answer: I suspect you are thinking of the news reports of cyclospora from imported Mexican fruit. There are numerous types of parasites. Most are transmitted through contaminated food or water. However, some are transmitted by insect vector (malaria for example). Protecting the food supply is the best way to avoid parasites. General public health policy to wash your food and avoid food from unsanitary environments was good advice in 1920 and is still good advice. It is interesting that we generally avoid fresh fruit in underdeveloped countries to avoid parasites and diarrhea. However, much of the fruit in the United States is now imported from Central and South America. Treatment for any parasitic disease depends on identifying the organism. Some have treatments, but some do not. There are few, if any, over the counter treatments available.
Yep, this story may be interesting.
Waiting for all the updates until I
link to one of them tonight.

Agreements with these people are not worth the paper they'e written on. The concept is "taqqya" - deception in the advancement of Islam. Basically a "get out of jail free" card for any kind of lying, decipt, stealing, murder, kidnapping, rape, or anything else as long as it can be justified as "advancing Islam."
(NB - I don't think that the more liberal Muslim thinkers are guilty of this, but they appear to be distinctly in the minority in current Islamic thought, at least outside this country).

The riot starters, non-English speaking /non-citizen barristas and extreme liberal / hateful of conservatives mentalities of California are driving people out of the state in droves.
Snip: Californians were not just moving into Colorado. Eleven of the 50 states reported more Californians moving in than residents of any other state, and Colorado ranked behind six other states as a destination for Californians who were moving out. Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona and Colorado among other states have absorbed many of these migrants with consequent impacts on their economies.
Snip: When things go wrong in Montana, chances are its some Californians faultat least thats what many of us in Montana assume. When property values get too expensive for average folks, its got to be because of all those people moving here from California.
Snip: For the first time since the federal government began tracking such things, more people have moved out of California to other states than have arrived from the other 49. The moving vans headed east and north represented a net of 775,000 people who gave up on California, according to reports Wednesday from the Census Bureau.
Despite that, the state's population is up, the Census Bureau says, thanks to in-state births and people moving to California from other countries. Between 1990 and 2000, California's population rose to just under 33.9 million. The number of foreign-born residents increased by more than one-third to almost 8.9 million.
Who can figure out these liberals....they want killers like Tookie (CA)
and Mumia (Philadelphia) to be spared....the PETA types don't want us
to wear fur or eat fish....but they LOUDLY proclaim their SUPPORT of
abortion.<<<
You have outlined a perfect case of mental illness.

Intended Victim Puts Rape Suspect In Hospital
KYW News Radio ^ | 12/02/2005 | Sonia Rincon

A rape suspect is in critical condition after being fended off by his intended victim.
Police Special Victims Unit Captain John Darby says when the 30-year old woman said no thanks, the man forced his way into her West Haines Street home and started to rape her in front of her two year old child.
"At some point she was able to talk the male into interrupting the attack so that she could place the child upstairs in the bedroom in safety."
That was the moment she needed. She went away with the child and came back with a knife which she plunged into the man's chest.
Police say ran off and collapsed on the street where police escorted him to Einstein hospital. He's expected to live to face charges.
Reports: Russia to Sell Missiles to Iran
excerpt:
Russia has agreed to sell more than $1 billion worth of missiles and other defense systems to Iran, Russian news media reported Friday, a move expected to draw a heated reaction from the United States.
The Interfax and ITAR-Tass news agencies cited unidentified sources in the Russian military-industrial complex as saying that Russian and Iranian officials had signed contracts in November that would send up to 30 Tor-M1 missile systems to Iran over the next two years.
Interfax said the Tor-M1 system could identify up to 48 targets and fire at two targets simultaneously at a height of up to 20,000 feet.
