The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Whatever the reason for the strange disappearance of Osama bin Laden, not seen alive since his last mocking video statement a year ago, he is no longer the face of the global "jihad" against the West.

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi { TM 25,TM 27 }, the Jordanian responsible for some of the worst atrocities in Iraq, has become the hero of the hour on militant Islamist websites.

Prosecutors in Holland are considering appealing a court's ruling to release 19-year-old Samir Azuz, a Dutch citizen of Moroccan descent suspected of wanting to shoot down an El AL plane over Amsterdam's Schipol Airport.

According to Army Radio, the court said that it was convinced that Azuz had terrorist intentions, however, he did not have the means at his disposal with which to act on those intentions.

Therefore, according to the court ruling, a person with only intent cannot be convicted of planning terrorist attacks.

I'm not sure but the other buildings do look a lot like NYC ... haven't been able to find a photo from that exact angle to verify it though. There isn't a bridge in that location however.

The photo is clearly a composite, even if it's not NYC. I'm not sure that the exact city would matter from their point of view as long as the jihadi banners and the WTC were clearly visible.

Yes, I think you are correct about the amount of damage that the weapon would do.

I quit worrying years ago about the damage from the weapon, but do think I am scared of the after effects, I have had an idea of what to expect, but now know, it will be a massive New Orleans all over again.

Dr. bill Wattenburg has always warned of the people who would go into the panic mode after an attack.

Since New Orleans, he has been even more definite on the results of an attack, his 'think tank' planning has increased with the knowledge of what really does happen.

When I think of all the California people who will land here and this area is not prepared to take care of itself, nor millions of others in an emergency.

The tree huggers managed to stop the ranching around here, there is no food grown here, not even by the residents.

New study details Iraq insurgency

Up to 3,000 foreign insurgents may be fighting in Iraq, but they
remain a small part of the overall rebellion, a US military analyst has
suggested. Algerians, Syrians and Yemenis are most numerous among
foreign insurgents, said ex-White House aide Anthony Cordesman.

Mr Cordesman, a veteran analyst, used Saudi and other regional
security studies to collate data on insurgents.

The figure is three times as large as unofficial Pentagon estimates, but
may total no more than 10% of insurgents.

The Iraqi insurgency remains largely home-grown, Mr Cordesman
added, with 90% or more hailing from Iraq.

"If there are anything like 3,000 fighters in Iraq, this poses a serious
threat," Mr Cordesman said in a report for the Center for Strategic and
International Studies, a Washington think-tank.
