The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Senate Judiciary Committee to Hold Hearing, "Saudi Arabia: Friend or Foe in the War on Terror?" on November 8

The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Sen. Arlen Specter, has officially rescheduled its hearing titled, "Saudi Arabia: Friend or Foe in the War on Terror?" for Tuesday, November 8, to examine the role of Saudis in disseminating hateful anti-American and anti-Israeli propaganda thoughout Islamic schools and mosques in the U.S.. The hearing was originally scheduled to be held on October 25, but it was postponed. I won't post the witness list until the witnesses are officially announced by the Committee. In my post of October 14, I discussed the witnesses scheduled for that hearing and linked to their bios. The propaganda issue has been addressed on this blog often, with a summary post on March 11 linking to the Freedom House report on Saudi-sponsored propaganda and a bipartisan letter to Secretary Rice on Saudi violations of religious freedom and the export of extremist teachings. I'll have more to say about the hearing as it approaches.

You are correct, I too had missed the "youth" as the gang, or is it that the reporter is a member and does not want the world to know the truth?

"Youth Worker" would be a communist anarchist group, I would think. From the damage done and the type of damage, it fits the communist types of action, there do not appear to be anyone willing to be a suicide bomber.

Only a few of the poor in France, who can't afford to go to Argentina and join the other communists in the threat against President Bush.

Although an arson dog from the city of San Bernardino was called to the location in the 12900 block of Central Road and "hit" on three different locations that tested positive for ignitable liquids, investigators have yet to term the fire as arson.

Truck Explosion in Tunnel
The explosion of a cargo truck loaded with missile parts in an expressway tunnel in Taegu on Tuesday is shocking enough to drive everyone into a panic even though there was no loss of life or injuries. It is not hard to imagine the blast could have turned into a mammoth disaster if the truck driver had not taken immediate steps when his vehicle caught fire in the 2.4 kilometer-long tunnel. He gave hand signals to the drivers of some 70 vehicles then passing through the tunnel, to make sure they evacuated before the situation worsened.
The truck was one of the four cargo vehicles carrying warheads and boosters for Nike-Hercules missiles from an air base in Sunchon, South Cholla Province, to another base in Taegu.
As anticipated, the Air Force tried to tone down the incident as they said that the fire only blasted the truck. They said that the warheads didn’t contain detonators and the boosters did not explode because they were filled with solid fuel, which is not volatile, only combustible. But the Air Force’s reasoning fails to convince the general public.

Secret prison system detains high-level terrorism suspects

The secret facility is part of a covert prison system set up by the CIA nearly four years ago that at various times has included sites in eight countries, including Thailand, Afghanistan and several democracies in Eastern Europe, as well as a small center at the Guantánamo Bay prison in Cuba, according to current and former intelligence officials and diplomats from three continents.

Iraq blames a Syrian-based terrorist for triple bombing
BAGHDAD -- The Iraqi government yesterday blamed a Moroccan based in Syria for a triple car bomb attack that killed at least 60 people north of Baghdad Saturday, and the defense minister called on Arab governments to demand that Syria curb the movement of foreign fighters into Iraq.
The Iraqi government identified the bomb planner as Muhsen Khayber, also known as Abdul- Majid al-Libi and Abdul-Rahim, who is also wanted in Morocco for the terror bombings in Casablanca in May 2003.

Israeli official: They didn't think Hamas was radical enough
JERUSALEM – Jailed Hamas members disillusioned with the Palestinian terror group because it's not radical enough for them renounced their Hamas membership and attempted to set up an al-Qaida cell to direct attacks against the Jewish state, Israeli prison officials said yesterday.
The revelation is the latest evidence the global terror network has established itself in the Palestinian territories, with Israeli security officials telling WND al-Qaida agents infiltrated the Gaza Strip after Israel's military withdrawal from the area in September.

The Washington Post on September 11, in a page 16 story, noted that a Spanish court had sentenced 18 people to prison on charges of cooperating with Al Qaeda and facilitating the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America. The story also noted that "Tayssir Alouni, a journalist with the Arabic-language television network al-Jazeera, was sentenced to seven years in prison. Prosecutors used an interview that Alouni conducted in 2001 with Osama bin Laden as evidence that he had a link to al Qaeda."
The evidence of his cooperation with Al Qaeda was that he had interviewed bin Laden? In fact, he was accused and found guilty of carrying money for Al Qaeda, and was a member of that Spanish-based Al Qaeda cell. Reports indicate that he took over $4,000 to terrorists in Afghanistan on two occasions. Some of the money went to Mohammed Bahaiah, one of Osama bin Laden's closest aides, who is still at large.

OK, I admit that I need more than half a cup of coffee to read this thread this morning...........

Your praying muslims at the football game, reminds me of the order that came down for the nice muslims (without records) to cause trouble.....

As I recall it, they were to photograph important places, do odd things, such as run up and down the center of the airplane, 2 or 3 lock themselves in the bathroom, etc.

I am sure muslims meeting and praying at the football game, would be the icing on the cake, to remind people of the suicide bomber at the Oklahoma stadium.

Of course, there is always the test run, now they know what will happen, once they are in the game.

You can bet there were ACLU lawyers and camera's running, it is all ready for trial and all the commies, will join them to march in the streets and protest the fact that they cannot even pray in public.

A lot more than 'poor muslims praying' happened, remember all the ACLU efforts to keep the Christians from praying at football and other sports?

In my opinion, there was a lot more that went down at that game, then a few muslims being singled out for praying.

It made the news, now it is a good excuse for a riot or two, elsewhere in the world and more jihadii's will join the cause and don bomb belts to strike at the 'evil ones' who are not willing to be muslims.

I would call it FREE publicity...........

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Five Muslim football fans were detained and questioned during a New York Giants-New Orleans Saints game because they were congregating near the main air intake duct for Giants Stadium, not because they were praying, an FBI spokesman told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Several of the fans were expected to detail their experience from the Sept. 19 game at an afternoon news conference in Manhattan. One of the men, along with his lawyer, said Tuesday the five were unfairly profiled and detained because they had been praying at the stadium, as their Muslim faith requires five times a day.

But Special Agent Steven Siegel told The Associated Press that the men aroused suspicion because they were congregating near the main air intake duct for the stadium. Former President Bush was on hand that night as part of a fundraising campaign he and former President Clinton were leading for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

"You had 80,000 people there, Bush 41 was there, and you had a group of gentlemen gathering in an area not normally used by the public right near the main air intake duct for the stadium, and a food preparation facility," Siegel said. "It was where they were, not what they were doing."

One of the men, who asked not to be identified because he said he fears harassment from the incident, said he and the other four had no idea they were near an air intake.

"I don't even know what an air duct looks like," he said. "To me, it was just a wall."

He said several stadium workers were about 10 feet from where he and the others were praying.

"We weren't hiding from anyone," he said. "There were workers right there."

Soon after walking through the gates and having their tickets scanned, the men found an open space near the concrete pillars at Gate D, and began to pray during the first quarter, the man said.

Other fans apparently notified security, who followed the men to their seats and asked them to come with them during the third quarter, the man said.

According to the man, an FBI agent said they were being detained because someone had reported they were taking photos of the building, and asked if any of them had cameras. They said no, had their identification documents checked and were questioned for about a half-hour on topics including which mosques they attended, and where and how frequently they prayed, the man said.

The men were later told they could return to watch the game, but were asked to sit in different seats, said Sohail Mohammed, the man's lawyer. They chose instead to leave, angered by the experience.

Siegel said the men were offered upgraded seats closer to the field as compensation for their inconvenience, and also were given the use of a private room in the stadium in which to pray. He said several of the men used the room to pray, but declined the better tickets.

"This was a routine, precautionary law enforcement action," he said. "The number one priority of the FBI is to prevent future terrorist attacks, and we ask people to report what they consider to be suspicious behavior when they see it. It turned out to be just a group of gentlemen congregating in an area where the public doesn't normally go."

That area, which was accessible to anyone at the time, has since been fenced off, Siegel said.

Officials with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, which operates the stadium, did not return calls seeking comment.

TEHRAN’S THREAT TO ANNIHILIATE ISRAEL

The students took their history lessons to heart.

Inspired by Rabbi Avi Weiss’ passionate plea never, ever to be silent in the face of threats to
the Jewish people, dozens of young men and women who have learned about the world’s quiet
during the Holocaust demonstrated with chants, songs and prayer at the Iranian UN Mission in
midtown Manhattan on Tuesday evening. They responded with outrage to a threat by Iranian
president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last week to wipe Israel off the map.

The students gathered from the SAR and Frisch Yeshiva High Schools, Yeshiva University and
Stern College. The action was coordinated by Amcha-Coalition for Jewish Concerns. In the
evening dusk along a busy rush hour Third Avenue, the youths lit a half-dozen torches to
symbolize the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust, but also danced defiantly, holding up
Israeli and American flags, singing “Am Yisrael Chai! The Jewish people live!” They also held
signs such as “Iran’s Threat to Annihilate Israel Is A Threat To Us All,” referring to Tehran’s
incipient nuclear capability, including rockets which might soon reach from the Mideast to
Europe. They chanted, Stop Iran -- Stop Their Plan!

Holding their signs and flags aloft, the students followed Rabbi Weiss to the doors of the large
lobby of the building housing the Iranian UN Mission. Guards quickly blocked the doors from
opening, but the students pressed up against the huge glass panes of the lobby as a few
demonstrators such as Hillary Markowitz got inside and argued insistently with building officials
that they be allowed upstairs to the Iranian Mission office itself. Rabbi Weiss pointed out that
just as the Iranian embassy in Buenos Aires was involved in the bombing of the AMIA Jewish
communal building a decade ago, the Iranian Mission could also be a place where
anti-American plots are being hatched.

A Jewish immigrant from Iran who exited four years ago, identified only as Mordechai, pulled no
punches about the Iranian government. “They are anti-human beings and anti-human rights,”
he declared, while holding a torch and enwrapped in a tallit (prayer shawl). “It is the duty of
everyone who cares about humanity to protest President Ahmadinejad’s threats.”

Rabbi Weiss concluded, “I believe with all my heart that if we speak out, God will cry out with
us, too.”
