US frees 500 prisoners from Abu Ghraib

Five hundred prisoners walked free from the US military's Abu Ghraib jail in Iraq on Tuesday, released in a goodwill gesture to mark the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The detainees were presented with a Koran and USD 25 on their release which marked Eid al-Fitr celebrations. Their release was in addition to 1,000 prisoners set free in October at the start of the month of fasting.
All 1,500, who also received traditional white shirts, were released after their cases went before an Iraqi-led review board and were found not to have committed serious or violent crimes, the US military said in a statement.
"These detainees have confessed to their crimes, renounced violence and pledged to be good citizens of Iraq," it said.

Most likely it was the Iraqi government who decided to release them.

These miscreants are being given another chance to create havoc - at least they're not in this country, small wonder.

Now if I could only understand what you are referring to, I'd be on the homestretch.

If someone started rumors that implanted tracking devices are in those copies of the Koran they could watch the Euphrates as Koran pages float away. Odd that the gov. can give away copies of the Koran when they are so careful about anything smacking of Christianity on home soil.

Isn't this like a throwback to the US prison populace that had served there time from say, the '40s or '50s? A bible, a cheap suit, 10 bucks and a bus ticket?
That surely reduced OUR prison population over the years.
Okay they are nowhere near tied, but it seemed to fit somehow to correlate.

No, no, no, the tracking devices are deep inside their right arm ... or was it the left arm? Hmmm, maybe it was both. That is the rumor to start.
