WBAL news team has announced at 5pm on The Ron Smith Show that MD4Bush has been identified as Ryan O'Doherty, a former Maryland Democrat Party operative/official.
Further details will emerge in moments.
Ban 'em, Jimbo.
I wonder if John Kerry knows that a Democrat "Communications Director" in Maryland was saying such things? http://www.gwu.edu/~action/2004/kerry/kerrgenmd.html

Me and my buddies went to the dem debate party at a bar in baltimore heckling Kerry, O'Malley and all the other dems kept giving us dirty looks, we just kept heckling like we were at an O's game. link
I'M GOP and will always be. link
I believe in tax cuts until there is nothing left. I'm pro-life, and Keyes is right about the moral crisis in USA. link
Outstanding. This story is sprouting wings, it seems. Any chance that ryan also slammed Hillary? That would be simply beautiful to behold (too bad she's not from MD, of course she ain't "from" NY either).
Here are a few hits on this rat via Yahoo Search. We have shined the light on a big rat liar here:

Save for later.
No, it went the other way around. Joseph Steffen was well known in his Public office for being a GOP activist. He was also tasked with the non-political job of firing bureaucrats in Maryland's government downsizing effort (somebody has to do it)...but this would clearly make him unpopular.
Steffen posted here on FR that people at his office had been seen using his computer (obviously unauthorized to so do), so the reasonable speculation is that they found out that he was NCPAC and set up a sting to target him (e.g. looked at his browser's History file or set up a keylogger or both or more).
This is further confirmed by viewing MD4Bush's posting history here, as he trolled NCPAC's threads and made his only posts on threads where NCPAC had been. In fact one of his first four posts was to NCPAC directly.
So newbie MD4Bush knew to target NCPAC prior to coming onto FR.
But it goes to reinforce the fact that you shouldn't use your work PC to surf Free Republic.
Don't be dumb.
Interesting connections ...
Nah. I'm not really active as a volunteer or anything But I read some of your comments about Keyes you said you work on a lot of campaigns and in MD doing special ops, reminded me of Rove. I agreed with the stuff you said about Keyes and Mike Steele. Shame that one nutcase doesn't get it. Anyway, just like bloggin away. We gotta be real about 2006 gonna be tough. Might need to play dirty. Most recent campaign activity: Me and my buddies went to the dem debate party at a bar in baltimore heckling Kerry, O'Malley and all the other dems kept giving us dirty looks, we just kept heckling like we were at an O's game.

Mayor Martin O'Malley has opened his re-election headquarters in the (Belvedere) square.
Others expected to open this year include Grand Cru, a wine and beer specialty store and sampling bar; the restaurant Taste; and Ryan's Daughter, an Irish pub in the former Chili's.

After a community outcry, and at Mayor Martin O'Malley's prodding, a redevelopment team composed of Struever Bros., Eccles & Rouse, the Hawkins Development Group, the Manekin Corp. and Williams Jackson Ewing acquired last year the nearly vacant shopping center. City and state funding pumped $4.2 million into the $14 million (Belvedere) deal.

From Eamon:
Last weekend saw us heading south to Baltimore and then on to Cary North Carolina. It would seem like a long journey but compared to next weekend it felt like going to Staten Island. We played in a new bar called Ryan's Daughter. Nice place and we were well looked after. One of the highlights was when the Mayor of Baltimore, Martin O'Malley showed up. As you may know he has his own Irish band named O'Malley's March. He arrived without the band but with his two bodyguards. Luckily I had brought four bodyguards so I didn't feel any less important. The Mayor joined us for "I'll Tell My Ma" and the song wound up with he and Greg "marching" across the bar counter rocking out. It was good fun and the crowd seemed to really appreciate the sight of their City leader letting it loose. I was a little worried as he was using my guitar and I at various times he looked like he was going to hit the deck and smash my Martin to pieces (Martin guitar that is.) I was imagining this long legal battle dragging through the Maryland courts. Me against the Mayor. I didn't fancy my chances. Luckily it all worked out in the end. See YOU and your "friends" next time MR. MAYOR!

I hate John Kerry and I'm sick of his lies. This is the most important election in history and George bush must win. If not the Islamic Terrorists will win, there will be more attacks on the states.
I haven't followed the case, but it just made sense that MD4Bush targeted Steffen. Thanks for the details confirming it -- it was just simple logic.
O'Doherty is so busted...if someone wanted to fake that email, they would have used an earlier date (it's as easy to type one as the other).
It's up to the WaPost to publish their anonymous source...dirty tricks negate any guarantee of anonymity.
The WaPost must explain why they trusted their source, too.
Which is to say, the WaPost's complicity in this dirty trick is undeniable.
Post reporter Matthew Mosk received printed copies of the message exchanges last fall, Brenner said. To verify they were authentic, he said, Mosk was given sign-on information needed to view the private chat room by an intermediary acting on behalf of MD4BUSH in late January. Mosk used that information to verify that "the chat room messages were genuine," Brenner said. Mosk presented the printouts to Steffen in February to confirm that they represented his words.
So basically Mosk is admitting that he signed on to FR using Ryan O'Doherty's, Communications Director of the Maryland Democrat Party, account. In other words, he's admitting what JimRob said when he indicated that MD4Bush/Ryan O'Doherty, Communications Director for the Maryland Democrat Party, was colluding with a Washington Post reporter on a story based on allegations by Ryan O'Doherty, Communications Director of the Maryland Democrat Party, brother of Damian O'Doherty, Senior Advisor to Democrat County Executive Jim Smith, that Democrat Mayor of Baltimore Martin O'Malley was "cheating on his wife."
Not that there's any impropriety. No, not much.
It is like a reporter coming to Rove or Libby and saying they know that Valerie Plame is CIA. Even if the press may think they know something, a person can be liable for confirming a story -- depending on what information they have.
It is wise for Jim Robinson not to respond...
