The world stopped for those briefings - at least among my friends and relatives!

"Reid actually motivated the conservative base today!

Brilliant..."

Awesome huh? I've been giddy ever since this happened! It's like being a kid on Christmas! Bring on November. This is CERTAINLY not how the libs wanted to start 2006, and it looks like they're going to get a whole lot of the past couple days in the coming year. 8) It is AWESOME!

How quickly the 'Rats forget. From my Clinton's Admin's Public Case link:

In Sacramento, November 15, Clinton painted a bleak future if nations did not cooperate against "organized forces of destruction," telling the audience that only a small amount of "nuclear cake put in a bomb would do ten times as much damage as the Oklahoma City bomb did." Effectively dealing with proliferation and not letting weapons "fall into the wrong hands" is "fundamentally what is stake in the stand off we're having in Iraq today."

He asked Americans to not to view the current crisis as a "replay" of the Gulf War in 1991. Instead, "think about it in terms of the innocent Japanese people that died in the subway when the sarin gas was released [by the religious cult Aum Shinrikyo in 1995]; and how important it is for every responsible government in the world to do everything that can possibly be done not to let big stores of chemical or biological weapons fall into the wrong hands, not to let irresponsible people develop the capacity to put them in warheads on missiles or put them in briefcases that could be exploded in small rooms. And I say this not to frighten you."12

That ain't gonna happen. Afterall, the 9/11 cOmmission said that it "...didn't exist. There is no documentation."
And don't forget that Thom Kean said that "People should just stay out of our business."

The rest of the Dems would crap in their pants and I don't think there would be any takers.

Republicans appeased the Democrats for Republican staffers finding the memo that they, Democrats, left on a computer that anyone could access by firing the Republican staffers that found it and apologized publicly to the Democrats without making any comment on the contents. Guess this is the Democrats one and only chance to use it. And how will the Republicans respond to the Democrats "pulling the trigger" now that the time is ripe? More appeasement. Give them whatever they want including Cheney, Rice, and Rumsfeld on a silver platter.

Most of the stuff that the Democrats are using against the Republicans to bring down the administration was caused by the Republicans own actions trying to appease the Democrats: Miers nomination, failure of vote for building refineries to get through senate environmental committee, etc. When the Republicans cave and appease, they get by only to find the Democrats waiting to club them with the same issues over again down the road and the "payment" is even bigger. Soon it will cost them their seats and the president his administration. These people are not stupid or slow learners. They have no more principles than the Democrats, but the Democrats are willing to fight to the death for what they think is rightfully theirs. How come I think I'm watching the long slow death of not the Democrats, but the Republicans?

A Hun suggested in the Hannity thread, that it's quite possible that reid has checked with the not-liberal wing of the democrat party, mainly the 11 democrat Senators that are in strong red States that Bush carried last year, and found that few if any of them were willing to vote against Alito. There may just be something to that. I imagine that the no b.s. version of the conversations was something like this:

Reid: Hello "Democrat Senator from a strong red State", I want you to vote against Alito when he comes to the floor for a vote'

Democrat Senator from a strong red State: Senator Reid, what? Are you kidding me? Do you even KNOW what State I'm from? Sorry. Not gonna happen. Go talk to specter, chaffe, snowe, or collins. I like my job.

And since there are 11 of them, that would easily make it impossible for the dems to come close to defeating Alito, which would be embarrassing since the lib dems already threw the gauntlet down against Alito yesterday, the first few hours after the nomination. I think this idea might just be it. 8) It sure is ironic that it happens the day after Alito is nominated. Some of it I'm sure is sour grapes because they didn't get anyone they wanted in the indictments last week, and what they got Libby for wasn't even remotely connected to the war, or the leak, and he is being indicted for things that happened during and because of the investigation, not before. Had there been no investigation, the actions Libby is being indicted for wouldn't have happened. That's a hard pill for the libs to swallow and they're not happy about it. 8) This is all so funny. They just keep digging that hole deeper and deeper, occasionally sticking their heads up to flip the American people the bird, then go back to digging. Why interfere? Let's let them continue. 8)

It would appear that there are more than a few 'consciences' MIA in Washington. . .

I hope they return and soon.

Boy, do I remember that. I slept on the couch most of the time to be near the computer.

Ah, those were the days. That was when I set up my first command post in front of the TV. All I had then was my TV, my computer, my cable and I had just resigned up in order to get FNC for the war. I had just become a freeper, and I learned to monitor the bagcam. Those were the days. Now I have two tvs, one HD with PIP and DVR, I need another computer though. And I need to get better at pulling down real time data.

What the media is saying now is far worse. And letting the lies stand serves no one. I agree they shouldn't get into the Libby thing, since it will probably be going to trial.

Oh oh .. and since the Dems want to Re-Open phase 1 of their investigation

Actually there is documentation and copies were made from Operation Able Danger.

All the Democrats have to do is watch an episode of Frontline PBS to recognize the existence of Salman Pak.

Pat Roberts has proven himself a GREAT conservative, and a man not to be trifled with. The rest of the Republicans in the Senate could learn a lot from him.

This is so pathetic. Ol' Fitzy didn't give them what they wanted, so they are resorting to their usual tantrums.

Fitz said that the Plame investigation HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WAR IN IRAQ!

No matter what, they are going to die trying though.

you are correct, the GOP does not have the stomach for political fights, and will pay for it dearly in the next few election cycles.

History is just powerful forces and spineless cowardly entities never prevail.
