you are correct, the GOP does not have the stomach for political fights, and will pay for it dearly in the next few election cycles.
History is just powerful forces and spineless cowardly entities never prevail.
on the other hand, their childish antics could cost THEM dearly in the next election cycle. I hope they keep it up.
I think the GOP is showing more strength than you give them credit for. They are learning quickly that the conservative base is STRONG and WANTS a fight with liberals, and if their base is strong, they can be strong. if the Senators know that thair base is strong and will back them in a fight, they'll start throwing punches. I sure wouldn't have expected to see the fight from the Senate that I did today, and those are not the actions of the typical weak Senate I have been used to.
