De Wine Graham and Specter are on board the Alito train. Go for it Dems. There is a NUKE in your future if you do.
"Are we not men? We are 'Mull!'"
Nuke 'em, Frist!
All your mull are belong to us.
It may not be necessary...there are certainly not 41 liberal Democrats in the house who would keep the filibuster going...
All your filibuster are belong to us.
Martin Mull??
You've got a little typo in your headline. Shouldn't this read "Democrats Are Null?"
Someone set us up the nuclear option.
I meant Senate, not House...
And now this:
Democrats are mull possible filibuster against Supreme Court nominee
I'm starting to think these headlines are translations from a different language!
All your mull are filibuster by us?
All your filibuster are mull by us?
more likely "mulling".
DeWine and Graham have already announced that they will support the nuclear option if the Democrats deploy the filibuster, according to RedState.org. Add to that Sen. Specter's effusive praise of Alito, where he went out of his way to mention Alito as an ideal candidate for the Supreme Court last summer. That's apparently 51 votes to break the filibuster right there.
Now, on one hand, liberals (DU and KOS types) believe that a win against the filibusters would be a Pyrrhic one for the right, exposing the "extremist fascist" nature of the GOP. (Do Democrats consider themselves moderate fascists?)
On the other hand, once the nuclear option is deployed, its effects are permanent. They have hopes of winning back a few seats next session, and are very concerned that Stevens might retire in that session. They envision having enough votes to block the nuclear option in the 110th Congress, but would not have the opportunity if they've already forced its deployment in the 109th Congress.
So, what do you think the Democrats will do?
Throw red meat to the snarling dogs, of course. The GOP will have to use the nuclear option.
....Well, not necessarily. I can imagine that there would not be enough votes to oppose a cloture vote (40). If that is true, there will not be the great armaggeddon that the Washington Post so gleefully predicts.
more likely "mulling".
I like mine better.
Or as we conservatives would say...
All your Alito are belong to us!!!!
All they can do is MULL........they can't do nuthin'!!!!!!!!
Excellent Zero Wing Reference!
