Hillary: Libby's Leak Lie 'Reprehensible'
NewsMax.com ^ | Nov. 1, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

2008 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is blasting former top White House aide Lewis Libby for allegedly lying to investigators, saying his decision to leak CIA employee Valerie Plame's name to the press was "simply reprehensible."

"Taking such action for political purposes is simply reprehensible and should never be tolerated," Clinton complains in a statement posted to her web site.

The former first lady, who had her own truth-telling problems in the Travelgate scandal, said Libby's attempts to "interfere with the investigation" by deceiving investigators "raises serious national security concerns."

"This administration owes our CIA agents around the world a promise that their identities will never be jeopardized," she railed. "And it owes the American people direct answers and responsible action."

In 2000, then-Independent Counsel Robert Ray issued his final report on the Travelgate probe, where he concluded: "The overwhelming evidence establishes that Mrs. Clinton played a role in the decision to fire the [travel office] employees and thus her statement to the contrary under oath to this office is factually false."

I really do feel that Fitzmas might be a gift, but not to the dems. It was funny to see the MSM report on this last night. They didn't get what they wanted for Fitzmas. Thus, they just played make believe. They sat there and pretended that they got what they wanted, Libby was indicted for "outing" a CIA agent, Rove indicted or resigning, the VP resigning, the administration paralyzed, etc. It was great to see Gergen gurgle, Gregory grun and Matthews mystified.

LOL, great analysis too. I too think Fitzmas was a gift -- to our side, actually.

People here who hate and ridicule Fitgerald aren't seeing the forest for the trees, IMO. I'm very sorry for Libby and his family, but it looks to me as if he stepped in his own trap.

IMO it's ultimately good for the Good Guys (our side) that Libby got caught. Libby's apparent lies gave Fitzgerald the opportunity to crack down and to keep his reputation as a "tough prosecutor."

And Fitz had to that that, really; because if he'd come up totally empty handed, the MSM would have been so outraged, we'd've heard howls till kingdom come. Fitz's entire investigation would've been branded a "Republican whitewash" and the Dim/MSM machine would've demanded more investigations and kept the controversy alive for years.

But with this one indictment, the fire is tamped down and eventually the whole stupid thing goes away.

I believe Fitz was desperately hoping to find a lesser crime he could charge than a breach of national security -- and here poor Scooter handed it to him on a silver platter.

Yet another example of the reprehensible self-righteous double-standard gall of shameless liberals.

If Hillary didn't have such a conveniently poor memory she would have lied far more times than Libby is accused of.

"Hillary: Libby's Leak Lie 'Reprehensible'"

The libby that she referred to is her lady friend, libby lipshitz, and the leak she is referring to is lying on hillary's bedroom floor. Reprehensible is the odor coming from the leak.

"2008 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton

Oh please! Hahahaha!"

There's good reason to wonder if she can even retain her Senate seat in New York next year...

If it is "Reprehensible," then what word would she use to describe some of her actions? Unconscionable perhaps?

Funny, I don't remember Hillary declaring her candidacy for President. Good thing the bastion of journalistic integrity NewsMax is there to break the story!

I've got to admit that Libby lying on the stand is probably the most stupid thing for him to have done. From all the stuff I've seen about the case, there was no proof of intent other than to highlight the fact the Wilson's wife arranged for him to take the trip, not the VP, which would not have resulted in what has come about.

I don't think Hillary has the moral high ground to be saying anything about what he did, but I still have a problem defending anything it, and he deserves all the crap that comes from it.
