Incumbents in the race for Dover Area school board say they've tried to resolve the teachers' contract situation but have had little help from the union, while challengers say the board's efforts haven't been enough..The teachers union waited until late summer 2005 to submit a contract proposal...the proposal called for a 19.1 percent salary increase for the first year...The PSEA's PACE has donated $4,982 in cash and in-kind contributions since February to the Dover CARES...

I believe I simply answered your points, one by one.
I've seen quite a few "fundamentalist crazies" in my lifetime. I used to play tapes of preachers at a radio station for hours on end when I was younger.
None of them have increased the sum total of our knowledge of the universe one iota.
All you do is start a conflict although some people are looking for a fight even if you are nice.
It is not nice to try to inject nonsense in science class to confuse the kids about what science is and is not. If someone stood up in a school board meeting and proposed barbequeing the students and eating them, the answers might or might not be polite. However, I'm sure few if any would pretend that the idea possibly had some validity and needed further study. Some things are obviously wrong to most clear-thinking people and the contentions of a few goofball cultists are an example thereof.
This school board was trying to bring balance to a one-sided presentation of science with a limited knowledge of the law.
Science isn't anything you want it to be. I notice the school board is not similarly upset at one-sided presentations of chemistry (vs alchemy) or astronomy (vs astrology). But then the school board is composed of creationists, not alchemists and astrologists.
They could have done better homework but would have been sued no matter what.
If they were doing their jobs, they should have tried to ensure that science classes accurately reflected the current content of science and not the talking points of their cult.
A secular extremist I guess. You need to see that you are
just as extreme as the "cultists" you criticize. When
Dr. R.A. Torrey wrote about "The Fundamentals" of Christianity (virgin birth of Christ, inerrancy of the
Bible, etc.) he was as much of an intellectual as non-believers. Jesus spoke of "Pharisees" and "Saducees."
They were his versions of "fundamentalists" and "humanists."
Are you a Steve Allenist?
"Thomas More is donating its services, my friend. "
To which the appropriate reply is:
... and it appears, from the reports of what's happened so far in the court room, that the Dover School Board's legal counsel was worth exactly what they paid for it.
I could give you my knowledge of history and journalism and tell you how great they are alongside of your science. The
science I understand most (being a journalist by training)
is meteorology. And there I see the forecasts that constantly change based on current observations of barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, etc. Its
very difficult to see too far into the future in meteorolgy
and that's why I have to doubt how biologists can see so far
into the past.
The people who write the school textbooks have taken a few more pains than you have in the relevant areas. Can you believe that?
Yeah, that oppressive "has factual evidence" side. Darn them!
Lets get to the meat here. The liberals who want to spend
a lot of money in the Dover School Distict are trying to
win an election with union support and the ID issue. THE TAXPAYERS WILL GET THE SHAFT IF THESE PEOPLE WIN. NOT ONLY WILL THEY 'LOSE A LAWSUIT' THEY'LL ALSO BE PAYING FOR THE 19.1 PERCENT PAY RAISE, NEW BUILDINGS, ETC. THE TAXPAYERS PAY MORE IF THE LIBERALS (DOVER CARES) WIN.
factual evidence of global warming
factual evidence of dioxin
factual evidence of radon
factual evidence of alar in apples
factual evidence of DDT
AND THE FACTUAL EVIDENCE JUST KEEPS ON COMING...
I've heard of walking a mile for a Camel cigarette, but you'd pay thousands more in property taxes just to keep ID
out of school.
I have to go to bed...I work at night so as Red Skelton
used to put it "God Bless" (pardon the expression).
Why should anyone save the School Board and the voters who put them there, from the consequences (political and educational) of its actions?
That may be true. On the other hand, given that several members of the current school board appear to have perjured themselves, how far are you willing to go to lower your taxes? Hey, I know lots of people thought Clinton's perjury didn't matter, maybe Bonsell's and Cleaver's and Geesey's perjury don't matter either. However, if you reelect these bozos, what other imbecilities will you be paying for?
Other people can't foretell the future, therefore biologists can't tell the past. Hmmm, fine logic there.
Again?
It's an epidemic!
