Per Fox News...
LOL! what a wonderful world it would be!
"I think I just hear Chuckie fall over!"
Well, I think Alito is solidly pro-life and pro-gun, those two issues would cause Chuckie to buckle.
Well, I'll start (even though I'm not "Left," only "Loony").
His kids aren't nearly as cute as those of the Chief Justice's. Note that neither of them was dancing at the announcement. Of course, maybe the fact that they're 15 years or so older has something to do with that.
Alito seemd 100% genuine and sincere. CONFIRM HIM NOW!!!!
Hey Chuck, ya get yer "Consensus" candidate now! Oh yeah, it's the Republican's Consensus candidate, y'know, the folks who won last years election!
Wow, Dianne Sawyer just said that (your statement) was at the top the the dim talking points for today. Just thought you might like to know.
LLS
I have to admit, that is a relief.
That's usually the way they go out lately. Very few resignations or retirements.
dunno. I just have a feeling that there is some other change afoot at SCOTUS. Maybe not RBG, but some change. If Stevens steps down or vacates a seat, it would still be a great opportunity for President Bush to appoint JRB, AND would break the "quota" idea as well.
Feelings are usually not a good basis to base an opinion. If anyone goes during the next three years, it will be Stevens, but he looks pretty spry for a guy in his mid-80s, 85 to be exact.
Bush's pick of Alito is strictly due to true conservatives showing their outrage at Bush's lame pick.
Miss Marple, do you really want to "credit Bush" with this pick?
If Bush were to due something really conservative on his own and surprise us, then indeed we could credit him. Perhaps if he were to get on national TV and ask Congress for an across the board 10% cut in the budget to help pay for the New Orleans freebie giveaways or to set a goal to quadruple the nation's nuclear power output to cut oil dependency with hard , concrete dates and timelines, I would givce him all the credit in the world.
You are asking me to give Bush credit for the Alito Pick? When that pick really should be credited to true conservatives through their backlash of a lame pick? Really? No way, Miss Marple. Bush needs to stand on his own and give us some REAL conservative direction on his own.
When is his press conference?
Maybe he'll burst his last brain cell during the Senate Confirmation hearings on Alita. : )
be careful or the some nutcase frenchman will write a book saying 9/11 was the created by a vast network of librarians bent on taking over the world.
....and the BBC will believe it.
....and CNN will report it.
....and PBS will make endless documentaries.
....and the ACLU will demand a waiting period for library cards.
Howie's the best. I love his "Where's Whitey Watch".
ooops Alita = Alito

>>>"I STRONGLY suggest we start emailing all seven of those 'stinkin... sniveling... RINO's who always 'sh_t-their-pants' in the Senate.
Tell them you'll donate to ANY candidate who runs against them if they fail again to find their spines!"<<<<
Hell with email, Call them, Write them every day!
What was Gingburg confirmation vote? Like 97-2! Republicans never fight... I loved how Schumer said Bush needs to pick someone in the mainstream who represents all of America. Like Gingsburg is mainstream--
Since Rove didn't get indicted and now this it's been a rough few days for them.
