The funniest thing about CNN.com is that they don't even have this many visitors to their website, nor viewers on their cable channel! LOL!

I voted "NO", as did my husband, and 2 sisters, and the vote "counter" never moved! Something is definitely rotten at CNN-----probably more than just their poll counter!

Not to point out the obvious, but it is likely that the vote tally display is only updated every five minutes or something--hence it wouldn't show your votes right away, but they would be added on the next post. It's also possible that the vote counter doesn't let you vote more than once from the same computer--to prevent one person from just sitting there and clicking "No" or "Yes" over and over again. That seems a lot more likely than a grand conspiracy at CNN. OK, NOW, I'm outta here

I'm not saying that the investigation wasn't stupid, the CIA shouldn't be investigated, that Wilson shouldn't be investigated, or that the MSM isn't spinning this for the Democrats. What I am saying is that a crime is a crime and if he did nothing wrong, he didn't need to lie about it because lying about it was a crime. Either purjery is a crime or it isn't. If it isn't, then Clinton shouldn't have been impeached. If it is, then let's treat it like a crime. It wasn't a crime for Clinton to be banging Monica, either, but he lied to a grand jury about it, which made it a crime.

I'm sorry but when the excuses start sounding like the excuses liberals made for Clinton, something is wrong. Turnabout does not make it fair play.

I agree. For example, we know that Clinton lied. But with Libby, did he actually lie, or did he just not recall correctly? I know I couldn't recall every conversation or e-mail I wrote this year, let alone in 2003. I imagine it is even harder for someone with his type of job.

We all agree to certain rules when we decide to post here. If you don't want to abide by those rules, then don't post here. You'd get tossed off if you don't obey the rules at any other specific political site, e.g. DU.

Anyway, I will probably stop reading this site because it is clear that it is not a "marketplace of ideas" but rather a tightly controlled locus for just a few views.

It is a site for those of a conservative viewpoint. If that is not you, then you won't be happy here anyway, so you might as well go.

You'd be disappointed if I voted. If Libby lied under oath he deserves to be prosecuted.

I agree with exceptions. His testimony did not exactly match the personal notes that he freely gave the investigation. The conversations were 2 and a 1/2 years before. If you have a busy life and this is low on your scale of importance, will your memory be perfect?

I'm thinking that Libby's "perjury" is more along the lines of not remembering precisely what you said to a long string of people, on a date, something like, 3 years ago. Do you remember exactly what you said to 40 people on a specific date 3 years ago. I sure as hell couldn't------and I also keep copious notes and a detailed day planner. Sometimes my "notes" and day planner don't exactly jive either, and from what this "prosecutor" person implied, this is precisely how "important" this perjury charge!

I, personally, hope Mr. Libby's defense attorneys rip the CIA, and the "closet Clintonista" Wilsons, a new one! Lord knows, they need one. After 9/11 there should have been a wholesale house cleaning at the CIA and those of V. Plame's ilk should have been gone! Who, in their right mind, would have hired a washed-up politico to undertake an important mission anyway? I wouldn't hire either Wilson, in light of past performance, to lick my boots, let alone undertake a "mission" for the CIA! Mr. Libby has no reputation as a liar, Mr. Wilson, on the other hand, does.

My memory sucks. I see lots of other possible defenses to the conflicting testimony (that the reporters are the ones lying being a very credible one).

That's why the big "If" started that sentence.

I was listening to Hannity today, something I don't usually do. He had 3 lawyers on and all 3 thought this indictment was BS. They said that Libbys testimony didn't agree with his notes. They also pointed out that he was concerned with much weightier matters than who first told him about Plame, Cheney or a reporter, so it probably wasn't a clear memory. The attorneys take on having read the indictment was that this was a case of a faulty memory and not purposeful mileading.

Be real. How many FReepers are going to actually take the time to do a mainstream media poll? A couple hundred?

Look at the number of people who took this poll as of my post: 140,637.

Our time would be better spent contacting our elected representatives and expressing our views on issues of substance.

And I'll repeat it for the record: I voted "Yes" in this poll. Libby is innocent until proven guilty, but if Fitzgerald's allegations are true and he gets a conviction, Libby betrayed conservatism and our President -- and he should pay. I actually read the indictment, and a number of Bush's subordinates have a good deal of explaining to do.

The examples given in the press conference about the indictment did sound pretty damning. But he deserves his day in court and if he can get people to believe it was a mistake, then he'll get off.
