You must not have been a member of the NRA during the Clinton Years, thoughtomator.
An odd coincidence that a random "Audit" hit the NRA right after the Republican Revolution. Which President Clinton blamed on the NRA.
If the charges against Scooter are solid. The case will be tossed.
Jack.

He wasn't indicted for outing anyone. Looks like Libby was trying to misdirect the investigation toward the press/reporters.
The case looks pretty good, on that basis. He set himself up for this. Idiot.

Could you document that? It doesn't make sense to allow an appointee rather than an elected official to directly succeed to the Vice Presidency.

We made a lot of hay out of Bill Clinton lying to a grand jury and Hillary making false statements in the Travelgate investigation. We can't be here defending Scooter Libby for doing the same thing.
This is a painful truth, but a truth nonetheless.

Like John Kerry did? Odd how the CIA gave him a pass. He did it right on national TV, yet there's not one democrat asking for an investigation.
To: Acts 2:38
Of course not. He foolishly lied about something that wasn't even a crime thinking that he had to protect Rove and probably not even knowing that Rove had committed no crime by conveying the CIA status of Plame to him. It is a bunch of garbage where Fitx is determined to indict SOMEBODY over SOMETHING and if he can't get someone for a big crime, he will take a lesser one.

"They can also trace the time that the hard drive was wiped. If it was after the DOJ's request for documents came down, Libby is toast."
Actually they can't if it's done right. (BTW, I headed the team who wrote the first DOD declassification software in the '80s)

I read the indictment and am confused about the original charge. It says that her name was classified. It further says that Libby told Miller that Wilson's wife might work a a bureau of the CIA.
Why didn't they address why they aren't charging him with leaking classfied information? Or are they going to address that at the press conference.

Yesterday there was a report saying the market and or the dollar would react negatively to the indictment. I would assume that these indictments are not looked at as devastating. The dollar and the market are both up. Just a thought

Well...it does create an interesting trial. Joe gets called to the stand to explain a number of facts. And in the midst of his little testamony...he lies...and it goes into the court record. Then Scooter...looking for a retrial or have charges thrown out...pulls out the lie...and the judge will just stand there and shake his head. And if this is broadcast out of the courtroom...Joe will be a bit unscrewed. There is no telling where this will lead to. Even Valerie may have something in her closet to hide...from Joe.

Now is a good time for Cheney to resign due to his health and loss of counsel. That way, the next President of the United States can be put into position. That would be about as stupid a political move as it is possible to make.

Moreover, it appears his crime was that he was misleading the GJ by not revealing classified information. Read the indictment.

See "Ford, Gerald Rudolph". The President's selection has to be approved by the senate, but if the office of Vice President is vacated, the President can choose whomever he or she pleases.

How weak does your case have to be when a dem like Russert will not even bite the bullet and back up your case against a Republican.

"Section 2. Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress."

That's presidential succession. The Speaker is not next in line if the VP resigns. The President gets to appoint the VP if Cheney resigns.
Unless; the President dies before the new VP can be sworn in; then the Speak will become the president. So I think comments are right; in their own way.

Yeah, but Timmy Russet said it's not a crime of perjury to not recall exactly the details of an incident - dates, times, who said what when, etc.
