Combat Theme Song

Combat Tidbits

Combat depicted the lives of one platoon of soldiers fighting their way across Europe in World War II. The long running show was very realistic, even to the point of using actual war footage in some epsiodes. And unlike many other WWII shows, this cast was sent to "boot camp" before filming began. Neither the war nor the cast was ever portrayed ina glamorous way.

Passings

Vic Morrow died in 1982 as a result of a helicopter crash on the set of "Twilight Zone:The Movie," Dick Peabody in 1999 of prostrate cancer and Rick Jason in 2000 of self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Michael Vandever as Lt. Dorf / Lt. Reiner (2 episodes)

Rat Patrol Theme Song

Rat Patrol Tidbits

Set in North Africa during World War II, this series chronicles the adventures of a 4-man team of commandos within the Long Range Desert Group. (In utter defiance of historical accuracy, the team consists of three Americans and one Brit.) Armed with jeeps equipped with .50-caliber machine guns--and endless chutzpah--they wage a highly irregular war against Rommel's Afrika Korps. Their most common nemesis is Hauptmann Dietrich, though Dietrich and the Rats join forces from time to time against a common enemy.

Each episodes title had the word Raid in it. This show rode in on the heels of the highly popular COMBAT. However it sadly lacked the excitement and interesting story lines that Combat had. The same U.S. and British guys fought the same German Afrika Corp guy week in and week out. Sometimes they all teamed up with each other. The stories in those weren't any better.

The red cap that Pvt. Hitchcock wears is a Civil War Confederate artillery lieutenant's kepi.

Passings

Didn’t find anything on this

Special Note: The information on this series was very sketchy and I had to piece a lot of it together. If you see errors or can add anything else, feel free to say something.

F Troop

9/14/1965 – 8/31/1967 ABC

Black and White/Color – 30 minutes

F Troop Cast

Forrest Tucker as Sgt. Morgan O'Rourke

Larry Storch as Cpl. Randolph Agarn

Melody Patterson as Wrangler Jane Angelica Thrift

Frank DeKova as Chief Wild Eagle

Don Diamond as Crazy Cat

James Hampton as Trooper Hannibal Dobbs

Bob Steele as Trooper Duffy

Joe Brooks as Trooper Vanderbilt

John Mitchum as Trooper Hoffenmueller

Regular guests:

Ivan Bell as Trooper Duddleson (6 episodes)

Benny Baker as Pete / Pete the Bartender (4 episodes)

Ben Frommer as Smokey Bear / Papa Bear (4 episodes)

Harvey Parry as Charlie / Charley / ... (3 episodes)

James Gregory as Major Duncan / Big Jim Parker (3 episodes)

F Troop Theme Song

None listed. There is one but could not find it.

F Trooop Tidbits

The stars of this military farce were the gallant incompetents of F Troop at Fort Courage, somewhere west of the Missouri, in post-Civil War days. The CO was the wide-eyed, bumbling Captain Parmenter, who had been promoted from private during the closing days of the war when he accidentally led a charge in the wrong direction, toward the enemy. Unbeknowst to the captain, Sgt. O'Rourke had already negotiated a secret, and highly profitable treaty with the Hekawi Indians, from whom he also had an exclusive franchise to sell their souvenirs to tourists. There was no peace treaty with the Shugs, however, and they sometimes caused trouble. Cpl. Agarn was O'Rourke's chief aid and assistant schemer, and Wrangler Jane the hard-riding, fast-shooting cowgirl who was out to marry Parmenter.

Passings

Once again I found nothing on this.

That's the end of the ride for today. Please watch your step on exiting the time machine. Now that I've shown you a few, how about you share something from your memory. Or, if one of these were your favorite show then, share a memory of the best episode for you.

I've read rumors that the Ditch Witch Sheehan is going to be at Walter Reed Army Hospital tonight with the Pinkos

Please give her my warmest personal regards. And I have a (very serious) question for her. I was wondering if she's normally this stupid or is it just the cameras that make her appear to be dumber than a small pile of rocks?

I've tried sending her this question through Code Pink, but (supriseingly) I've yet to get a reply. I'm starting to think she doesn't like me and my self-esteem is suffering because of it.

I remember watching Combat with my Dad, a WW II vet. He got the biggest kick out of that show. And I felt bad when Vic Morrow died in that horrendous accident on the Twilight Zone movie set. As for Rick Jason, I'm sad to hear of his suicide.

I enjoyed Rat Patrol -- maybe I was young and undiscriminating, but it was an enjoyable show.

There was another WW II show broadcast in the mid to late 60's, set on a Naval ship in the Pacific -- they fought the Japanese -- can't remember the name, but I watched that one, too. This was a serious drama, not a comedy like McHale's Navy.

Hiya, Ciexyz. Glad to see you today. I probably liked Rat Patrol cause of the cute guyz! LOL

As for the other WWII show, I'm sure there's bound to be someone here that knows the answer.

Bagels and coffee are a normal for NRA1995 who is celebrating a birthday today. I figured it would be better than cake!
