TIME TRAVEL

This new machine is working just great. ARE YOU READY? The Canteen is about to embark on another journey back in time.

If you're brave enough, climb aboard, no ticket required……we're about to take off.

Come on, hop in, watch your step ...... Let me set my controls.

Buckle up. Now don't be afraid....I know how to fly this thing.......Here we goooooooooo.......LIFT OFF……..

WHOOOOOOSHHHHHHHH

Landing with a gentle thump. Here we are - Let me turn on the television to see what is on.

Do any of you remember these shows?

Steven Rogers as Doc (1962-63)

Combat Theme Song

None listed

Combat Tidbits

Combat depicted the lives of one platoon of soldiers fighting their way across Europe in World War II. The long running show was very realistic, even to the point of using actual war footage in some epsiodes. And unlike many other WWII shows, this cast was sent to "boot camp" before filming began. Neither the war nor the cast was ever portrayed ina glamorous way.

Passings

Vic Morrow died in 1982 as a result of a helicopter crash on the set of "Twilight Zone:The Movie," Dick Peabody in 1999 of prostrate cancer and Rick Jason in 2000 of self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Rat Patrol

Lawrence P. Casey as Pvt. Mark Hitchcock (as Lawrence Casey)

Justin Tarr as Pvt. Tully Pettigrew

Regular Guests:

Manfred Lating as Orderly / Lt. Strum / ... (11 episodes)

Norbert Meisel as Truck Driver / German Guard / ... (6 episodes)

Stanley Adams as El Gamil (3 episodes)

Claudine Longet as Marianne (2 episodes)

Michael Vandever as Lt. Dorf / Lt. Reiner (2 episodes)

Rat Patrol Theme Song

None listed

Rat Patrol Tidbits

Set in North Africa during World War II, this series chronicles the adventures of a 4-man team of commandos within the Long Range Desert Group. (In utter defiance of historical accuracy, the team consists of three Americans and one Brit.) Armed with jeeps equipped with .50-caliber machine guns--and endless chutzpah--they wage a highly irregular war against Rommel's Afrika Korps. Their most common nemesis is Hauptmann Dietrich, though Dietrich and the Rats join forces from time to time against a common enemy.

Each episodes title had the word Raid in it. This show rode in on the heels of the highly popular COMBAT. However it sadly lacked the excitement and interesting story lines that Combat had. The same U.S. and British guys fought the same German Afrika Corp guy week in and week out. Sometimes they all teamed up with each other. The stories in those weren't any better.

The red cap that Pvt. Hitchcock wears is a Civil War Confederate artillery lieutenant's kepi.

Passings

Didn’t find anything on this

Special Note: The information on this series was very sketchy and I had to piece a lot of it together. If you see errors or can add anything else, feel free to say something.

F Troop

9/14/1965 – 8/31/1967 ABC

Black and White/Color – 30 minutes

F Troop Cast

Forrest Tucker as Sgt. Morgan O'Rourke

Larry Storch as Cpl. Randolph Agarn

Melody Patterson as Wrangler Jane Angelica Thrift

Frank DeKova as Chief Wild Eagle

Don Diamond as Crazy Cat

James Hampton as Trooper Hannibal Dobbs

Bob Steele as Trooper Duffy

Joe Brooks as Trooper Vanderbilt

John Mitchum as Trooper Hoffenmueller

Regular guests:

Ivan Bell as Trooper Duddleson (6 episodes)

Benny Baker as Pete / Pete the Bartender (4 episodes)

Ben Frommer as Smokey Bear / Papa Bear (4 episodes)

Harvey Parry as Charlie / Charley / ... (3 episodes)

James Gregory as Major Duncan / Big Jim Parker (3 episodes)

F Troop Theme Song

None listed. There is one but could not find it.

F Trooop Tidbits

The stars of this military farce were the gallant incompetents of F Troop at Fort Courage, somewhere west of the Missouri, in post-Civil War days. The CO was the wide-eyed, bumbling Captain Parmenter, who had been promoted from private during the closing days of the war when he accidentally led a charge in the wrong direction, toward the enemy. Unbeknowst to the captain, Sgt. O'Rourke had already negotiated a secret, and highly profitable treaty with the Hekawi Indians, from whom he also had an exclusive franchise to sell their souvenirs to tourists. There was no peace treaty with the Shugs, however, and they sometimes caused trouble. Cpl. Agarn was O'Rourke's chief aid and assistant schemer, and Wrangler Jane the hard-riding, fast-shooting cowgirl who was out to marry Parmenter.

Passings

Once again I found nothing on this.

That's the end of the ride for today. Please watch your step on exiting the time machine. Now that I've shown you a few, how about you share something from your memory. Or, if one of these were your favorite show then, share a memory of the best episode for you.

We have been as busy as a cat covering up $+** on a hot tin roof. With the people and equipment going to and from hurricane duty, people coming back on leave from deployments or getting ready to leave, it's been quite rough.

We are "standing up" another new unit that will eventually be at Ft. Hood, but for now we have to get their equipment ready to go. That really is bad for morale, because we fix the equipment and some other shop gets almost "new" equipment.

Yes, we have an airport in Green Bay, he's flying right in.

After layovers in Houston and Mpls.

I will be en route to church at the time....I have to play, it was scheduled before I knew his arrival time. So hubby will pick him up and when I get home we will have a taco supper with hopefully all 3 kids.:)

Katie has to work until 10:30 p.m. so we'll actually get to see him before she does.

We are having a little get-together on Halloween with the 5 of us plus Grandma, and a few close friends and relatives, and of course, Katie.

That's all I'm scheduling for him; the rest of the week will be his to do whatever he chooses.

Of course he wants to spend lots of time with Katie, but he also wants to hang out with his buddies.

Wow, thanks LUV for posting that link.

Another successful FReep is over. I arrived home about 30 minutes ago.

I was hoping someone had put up a quick webshots album, but I do not see any. You will love the photo op Karl gave tonight!! ROTFLOL! That's all I'll say about that for now.

The ditch squatter made an appearance, but we were ready for her. She didn't stay long ... and even less time inside WR. LOL! (Sorry ZacsMom - after sitting in traffic for an hour, eating a salad, I got to Kinko's only to be told they were short handed and couldn't blow up your wonderful pics until tomorrow.)

It was a great FReep with all the trimmings - coffee, hot cocoa, pizza...police, civil disobedience, lots of soldiers.

I hugged a soldier for each of those I promised. I explained that I needed to hug them as a proxy for their supporters across the country. They thought that was awesome and sweetly obliged.

I am very tired, so I will see you all tomorrow. Thanks for all you do to defend our defenders! {{{hugs}}}

Thanks GBU.

I went over to WR after the FReep. A soldier at the desk told me a soldier that was brought in last night saw the FReepers and said how awesome he thought that was. Then he turned his head and saw the "other" side of the street, and said, WT ?

The traitors at the gate of WRAMC only want to demoralize and taunt our brave heroes. I despise them.

God Bless the US Military. Gotta love 'em!!

Hey! Are you and I the only ones up???

We chant things like "shame, shame on code-pinko, leave our wounded alone"
Nothing seems to phase these sub-humans. However, their numbers are getting smaller and smaller. Even with the appearance of their newest icon, they only managed a dozen or so to greet her. LOL!!!

She's toast. She's no longer effective and they will drop her like they do all the losers they use and have no more use for. That's the good news. LOL!

She has to be completely nuts.

You didn't miss the link ... It just got posted!

"Karl" is from AZ, and was in DC for a week on business. He joined us last Friday night and felt the cause was so great, he re-scheduled his flight home, from yesterday to today, so he could be there again. It was great to meet him.

I look forward to meeting you Mrs.N! It would be wonderful to FReep with you.
