Sen. Brownback on Fox - the request for WH documents that was the stated reason for the withdrawal was from both sides of the aisle.

(Take two - this time, nominate a conservative, not someone who would be at least as bad as O'Connor.)
To: COEXERJ145
And now all the Miers haters are gearing up to do the same to the next person the President nominates. Why no! I can't imagine any such thing!

This is Republicans vs. MediaCrats (the Dems are just too ineffective to be considered a serious opponent).
I like the term mediacrats - it's useful to clearly identify your enemy.

Remember all of the blog gossip a few months back that the WH was going to first nominate a "sacrificial lamb" and THEN nominate a conservative firebrand?
I remember dismissing it at the time, but now I'm beginning to wonder too...
To: MomwithHope
I'm thinking this is what happened and you can expect Janice Brown to be the next appointee.

You are just upset because it is hard for you to accept that "The Base" is very conservative...not a bunch of moderates.

I agree! All the snide comments about "she makes a great cup of coffee" or her bowling score were nothing short of a right wing attempt at a favorite Dem tactic, character assasination.

"Now we have every dem talking head crawling out of the woodwork, calling the "right-wing" naughty children"
Do you honestly care? They don't have the Senate, they don't have the HOR, they don't have the presidency, they don't have the majority of governships. All they have is the Old World MSM, and in case you haven't noticed, that train is leaving town with the advent of bloggers, FOX, talk radio. And they darn sure don't have the biblical prophecy on their side. So why the concern? Time to get onboard and move forward.

The GOP has no party discipline. One of the things that has enabled the Dems to become so powerful is that, even when they are in the minority, they adhere to party discipline, do what they are told and support their leaders. Objectively, this is a bad thing; but from a political point of view, it is the only thing that works. They must be really happy now, having watched us do their dirty work for them. Has it really worked for the dems??????? I mean really, they went from having almost total control of this country to the minority party in 20 years.
Because nobody could speak out about any direction the party took without committing party political suicide. They have become the party of loons, losers and traitors, they have also lost all of their power.
Please, keep us sane and questioning the direction our party takes us!
To: WVNan
Look for a flaming liberal as your next SCJ. The President is not a petulant child. He will learn from this episode and nominate a better candidate.

She was a conservative, you dolt. She just apparently didn't attend enough Federalist Society D&D Friday Nights for some people's taste.

Agree - all the boohooers here saying we cannot win because Miers was jettisoned are wrong. It was just, what, a month or two ago Roberts sailed through. Conservatives support their prez but not blindly. The SCOTUS is too important to let Schumer and Reid have more influence on the pick than the base. Sorry moderates, that's the way it is.

.
I thought the conduct of many from both the right camp and the left in this matter was just plain deplorable. It was.

A handful at FR have opposed Miers nomination since the moment she got it. My own personal impression has been that their impetus was religious affiliation and little else. cboldt: Back that up with cites, or take it back.
He's entitled to his opinion!
Good point. My opinion is that all of your posts are spiteful.

She didn't get her fair shake! She was convicted before she had a chance to speak her peace! I've held me opinion on her this long because I wanted to hear what she had to say to all those controversial questions flying around. OH WELL, maybe Janice Brown or Owens will be named! Will see! You know the mediaDEMONwhores will never be happy with whoever W nominates! On with the FIGHT!!

The is
great news! Now let's get a truly qualified nominee for SCOTUS.
The demand for excellence has a small victory today.
Will Bush put up Gonzales to spite his base?
