Bwa ha! DU is claiming victory on this one...

They've just been handed a mighty weapon and they know it.

The entire discussion here on FR was amazing in that if anyone voiced dissagreement with the Miers nomination, that person hated Miers, hated the president and was a lefty lurking on Free Republic.

Exactly right! Ridiculous.

Ted Olsen, 42nd Solicitor General of the United States, was the husband of Barbara Olsen--FReeper, author, and conservative spokeswoman who died 9-11-2001 on Flight 77

I think the TV ads against her were damning especially the quote from Robert Bork. Now that was the proverbial "nail in the coffin!"

Now let's get a highly qualified nominee.

...filibuster bait...

There is a reason that America voted to put the GOP in charge of the government. Its about time that the government starts doing what the voters wanted.

Fighting for the will of the American voter (lose or win) is better than ignoring the voters and avoiding a fight.

No one HATED her. This position is just too important and the conservatives worked too hard to just "take a stab at it".

I pray he selects a clear conservative nominee this time. Don't forget, we're still not sure how John Roberts is going to pan out.

YES! Finnaly somebody in the WH is listening to the people who put them in there in the first place.

Finding out about her Afermative Action/racial quota stand was the last straw for me. I went from "just trust Bush", to what the heck was he thinking in the last 48 hours.

I'm going to gloat, YES!

And the audio was from Gloat Fest 2004.

Just havin' fun with the good news.

He won twice because conservatives worked our asses off to get him elected. We gave our time and money, so when you say he won the election you need to understand that he did it by espousing a conservative agenda. Is it too damn much for us to ask the President to live up to his promises. This crap that he won, and he picks with no consensus is ludicrous, and you really need to read some history. Follow a philosophy and not an individual.

I vote for the most conservagtive person in an election, no matter of party. Example, I would prefer a Zell Miller to a John McCain.

I was talking about compromise among the Republicans & conservatives.

Heck, I'd love to get JRB on the Court. But a compromise among the factions represented here at FR doesn't cut it. I don't think the factions here were divided as much over a like/dislike of Miers as a disagreement over what was possible given the current makeup of the Senate. Heal that rift, and you're still only talking about 45 Senate votes. The Snow/Specter RINO's are the ones we'd need to get, and I don't see where they have an incentive to pull together in support of a more conservative nominee than they'd have supported before Miers was nominated.

Guess again.

OK. I predict one of the Michaels: Luttig or McConnel.

> Trent Lott is doing a good job too - on FoxNews.

He was until he recommended not nominating Brown or Rogers but someone more acceptable

What a Pµ§§`/

Cave-A-Lott wanted someone provably a "like-for-like" replacement for O'Connor.

Not if you get your ass kicked.

Being afraid of an ass-kicking doesn't win wars. It sounds so... French.

I could find a senator with a stronger backbone if I carved one out of a bannana. :D

Oh. So it is about something other than who is on the Supreme Court?

IMO, that's the problem.

Not at all. It is kind of like a football game where the guys on the same team bash on each others pads to get themselves fired up. That was Miers. JRB or Luttig are going to be the game, and we are damned fired up. Timing it to coincide with the Plame steaming pile of s..t does not hurt either. The base's nostrils are flaring, and there is fire in their eyes. We want a fight, and we are tired of fighting with each other over Miers. We want Dim blood.

Isn't it funny?

Weeks of reading some on here say "she WILL be confirmed," "she WILL get a hearing. Don't like it? Tough" "You are a one-percenter."

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!

It's just so funny looking back now.
