just breaking!!!!!!!!
The "alternative" being the present status quo? Am I reading you right?
If i am, then I definitely agree. Sure there are pitfalls to be expected. Pitfalls have befallen the Constitution, but the people found a way to rally back and set things right in the long run. Meanwhile, we know what the status quo consists of. It is no friend to constitutional order, or any other kind of order that isn't the ideological project of a lunatic ideologue.
I'd be glad to see the status quo shaken up a bit -- so as to leave just a little more freedom in the system for thee and me and our company -- i.e., our fellow human beings. The people -- not the "high priests" -- will figure out what's important for ourselves, our families, our communities, our nation in the long run. That was the expectation of the Framers, and what the Constitution was designed to promote.
At least that would be my expectation.
Thank you so much for a clear-sighted and well-reasoned post.
Great damage was done today. Constructive advice and criticism are welcome, of course. But, the sorts of rhetoric and hysterical accusations directed at Bush, Miers and the administration did little to strengthen the Bush presidency and did wonders for the morale of the enemy Left.
G, I totally agree with you.
>>This was a bone headed pick, and anyone who defended this nomination has become a Bush disciple and not a supporter. A supporter can disagree with a President while a disciple questions nothing. You Bush-bots should be ashamed of yourselves for following a man and not a philosophy. Read some history.
<<
Worth repeating.
I am a Republican, I was one for Nixon and I'll be one for the next one down the road.
We needed you conservative hard right and libertine jackasses to get our president into the White House.
You have worn out your welcome, and now you have made a mess.
It's time you learned just who does the electing, and how the art of politics is employed, and you will find out soon enough the mistake you have made. I warned during Schiavo that is it did not stop, we would dump this coalition and begin anew. Now I am no longer warning,
It's a done deal.
Of course I do! Glad to see you do too. ;)
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!
I answered yours with mine, or at least that was the intent.
My wife does it to me all the time.:-)
Golly, gosh. I feel terrible.
Have fun with Hillary.
But since I don't know what he meant, I will assume the best because he has never shown an sign that he lacks character himself.
Never mind....was just kidding.
Well CH, you and I differ on this. Simple as that. I agree with Ann. I'm not an idiot. You can tell me all day that I am, but you won't change my mind. I still get to vote. It perturbs me that compassionate conservatives claim they are conservative with they are flatly big spending liberals and refuse to defend the constitution.. but I don't call them idiots.. they are simply political enemies, and conservatives will again have to bail their *sses out to protect their constitutional rights. And send our sons and daughter to protect the little baby morons they make. But, hey. Politics is just a game right?? We don't need results. We got our tax cut and dammit we should be happy as a gopher in soft dirt.
If Bush is working on his legacy then he's not doing what I voted for him to do. I voted for him twice to carry the conservative message forward and make clear that they are not the enemy as the Democrats have effectively defined. Bush he shirks from a domestic fight every time and I know why.
I'll be glad when you do to.. :)
BTW, as for Rush.. I part company with him as much as I agree with him.. but don't let a detail like that stop you from sheep dipping me with those you fear are your enemy.. Let me assure you, I'm an American first. I don't belong to a party that thwarts and dismantles the constitutional rights of Americans. So.. my vote is up for grabs.. but I better see some results first. Otherwise, I'm staying home to watch the returns. And saving my money for the continued raping of my wallet and rights.
It is! I surely is.....
But, one day you will see that. Assuming you stick around.
Not today.
Actually with my children .. I tend to sit on the sideline and let them learn a lesson on their own
Because no matter what I say .. I'm mom and always wrong
Though in the end when all is said and done .. I'm not
You are acting more like a Libertarian than a Republican.
I=it
Stop the arguing children. Stop, step back and look at this.
The Bush people from day one knew this nominee would NEVER make it to first base. It was a head fake!
A ploy to confuse the liberals and timed to go done just when the special prosecutor was about to wrap up the CIA leak case. Look again and learn! Bush, Rove and company have done it again! The new nomination process takes away the endless drumbeat about the upcoming indictments.
See the difference?
Some of you young whippersnappers are unteachable (even if you're 65). A wise elder can spot the smart alecs a mile away.
Now please excuse me as I discuss issues with the grown ups.
I have a small l libertine side, but I'm not using it right now.
I am not a hater of government, I like warfare and stuff, so I cannot be a true Libertarian.
