Oh really .. shall I post some of Ann's articles .. or how about Bill Kristols??

Coulter I'll give you. I've mentioned that several times in other posts, but I realize that this thread is huge.

I've read Kristol and I didn't see anything disrepecting. He just didn't feel that she was qualified or anywhere near the best choice for the job.

Bush wants to have it both ways by appealing to the base and to RINOs. He can't do both.

Yes he can, and he has.

How do you think he won in 2000 and 2004?

The GOP is not just a "conservative" party. There aren't enough conservative voters to win a presidential election.

Those Senators are covering their asses and never stood up. They bowed to political pressure, and that is something they are supposed to resist. They are no better than congressmen.

You may see a few leaving next year. Replaced with guess whats?

NEITHER Clarke,

NOR McCain,

NOR Kerry is qualified, worthy, or "safe" in the office ofthe Presidency.

We tried that once. Got Kennedy - An unmitigated disaster in foreign policy.

You're reading their press releases.

Well, if you can't explain your comments, I'm not going to the trouble to try to figure them out either.

She was not impressing anyone with her knowledge or presentation as I understand it.

It was thought that she wouldn't do well in the hearings if she couldn't do well one on one.

That is what I heard....

No, because in Starship Troopers ONLY Veterans could vote.

I think that Veterans, as a class of people, are the most qualified to be entrusted with national security.

They've already demonstrated a level of committment to country, Constitution, the rule of law and teamwork that exceeds the norm of any of identifiable group.

They have something in common, and the thing they have in common is that they all answered the call of civic duty, young. I think that this makes them more qualified, as a group, than any other group I can think of.

Also, Veterans get screwed a lot by our system, and its unconscionable. We've got Vets who can't get medical care for the after effects of service-related wounds and injuries, while welfare recipients get better coverage.
This is not right.

The political system is broken.
The Dems cannot be trusted with power at all.
And the Republicans can't be trusted with the budget or the borders.
That makes the Republicans the better of the two, but still not adequate for what we need.

Some personality cult of a wealthy businessman - Perot - is not what we need again. We need a serious national movement, but one that has credibility and isn't simply a vehicle for ambitious wackos. I think that a party of veterans offering itself for office at all levels would have a dangerous amount of instant credibility, and could very well become the centrist, national security party that carves every sane person out of the Democratic Party, and a good-sized chunk out of the Republicans too.

Just a thought.
Starship Troopers was based on a different, non-democratic ideal.

That info came from Nora O'Donnel's report this evening.

As you know, she is a raving lunatic.

You have split the COALITION!

Bush split the coalition by creating a wedge issue against his own party.

Kennedy was not a disaster in foreign politics.

McCain is qualified. He's just irritating.

Fixed your typo.

I love my party, and I'll be a conservative until I die...but I'm through busting my ass getting pseudo-cons elected.

You can't win without us, anymore than we can win without you

This is true, for now. Yet another reason I'm happy we can bicker about these things now in the hope that we can agree once we get to the ballot box.

You have split the COALITION!

No, you did. Neener!

Bush is the leader of the party by default. You did not follow. You preempted the process for the second of two embarrassing moves this year.

The first was that stupidity in the House during Schiavo, and now you compromised the Senate while the admin is under attack and we have a war on.

The proper course was to allow hearings to proceed and let her rise/fall with that appearance. You compromised the process, spent all the political capital and borrowed heavily.

Now you will pay it back.

It is really quite simple, but you folks don't do pay backs. You won't compromise and now you will lose it all.

Of course I didn't follow - Bush is not an emperor. As most, I only vote Republican because are supposed to endorse conservative ideals.

Blindly following a leader is what got the party in such shape with Nixon and Bush 41.

He won in 2000 because he was able to present himself as an alternative to what would have essentially been a continuation of the Clinton Error. He won in 2004 because of the WOT.

As for there not being enough conservative voters to win a Presidential election, tell that to Ronald Reagan.

It's an attractive notion, certainly, but don't forget that Kerry is a vet, too.

Also, the ST govn't was republican in nature, but enfranchisement and office eligibility was dependent on military service.

I find it amusing that those who consistently treat politics like a game ... are now the first ones to consider leaving the party after they lose one battle.
