Did Bubba ask her if she was spying on him? Was her broach really a camera? Was her watch recording every word? NO, absolutely not!! She wasn't a spy.

BUT, Bubba had "patent leather" dress shoes!!

I was recently called to serve on a grand jury. I believe that judges and prosecutors prefer to empanel people who don't find it a great hardship, because they will be less likely to have to absent themselves due to work demands or child care, etc. At least in our county, the judge wanted to know who could serve without severely disrupting their lives. This led to a jury composed of mostly retired people with a strong sense of service to their community. I said I COULD serve, but it would be a hardship due to my full time, fairly pressured job and my teenage son. So I can be called if they need me.

For Fitz to wait until now, to talk to the Wilsons' neighbors, is beyond bizarre!

I've been pondering why they approached the neighbors at this late date, and I think it has nothing to do with Rove or Libby or the WH.

No one in the WH would have disclosed confidential information to her neighbors. Only she or Joe could have done that.

I don't think the FBI was trying to wrap up loose ends on a Rove/Libby indictment; it was more likely digging up info that would be a concern for Wilson's or Plame's lawyers, IMO.

Just imagine what you would make of it if the FBI was out interviewing Libby's or Rove's neighbors? We'd all be very convinced that they were looking into some wrongdoing disclosure by Rove or Libby. So that is the only thing that makes sense to me about this--the FBI was trying to learn what (else?) the Wilson/Plame couple had done to leak classified information.

They can extend again, hmmmm. How might that fit in with the midterm elections?

The story is here (#42). Also:

Wilson (as Ambassador to Gabon) had/has connections to the Gabon Chief of State, Omar Bongo, who was the chief African ally of the French oil company TotalFinaElf, a major beneficiary of the Oil-for-Food bribes. Prior to the Iraq War, they had a contract with Saddam's regime worth an estimated 12.5 to 27.0 billion barrels of oil reserves. Also he had connections via the Middle East Institute and Rock Creek, both of which are Saudi controlled.

Wilson's wife Jacqueline was also apparently a lobbyist for Bongo and it seems Wilson was pretty chummy with Saddam's weapons buyer, having dinner with him on the eve that Kuwait was invaded in 1990. That makes it very clear that there are connections to oil-for-food. No wonder Wilson can afford his lifestyle.

I hope I am wrong.

and the media has gone way out on a limb here - if there are no indictments, they are really going to look bad. if this should occur, it means someone has played them - fed them bad information to lead them to committing to this story line we have been hearing from late last week.

What does Joe consider to be "intimately"?

I suspect he had hoped having one at a time would have been twice as intimate than two at a time.

You're on a roll on this thread and, after Miers, back home where you belong.

You know, all this talk about serving more time on the Grand Jury and "seeing that justice is done" leads me to believe that Fitzgerald hasn't made a case yet.

This investigation isn't about violations of law. It's a demonstration by some members of the Washington establishment that they can destroy people's careers. That's what's really at stake here. That's why some people will be terribly upset if Rove and Libby don't get burned at the stake. It's about the political God, power.

"Wonder why Wilson was a national security official. He admits now to things everyone has known about him -- women, addictions, etc."

Hey, it was the Clinton Administration, after all! Kick out the addicts and the womanizers and even Bubba would be gone.

On a more serious note, Wilson's New York Times article was his shot at getting a job in the Kerry Administration.

Good then we can turn the worm on Fitzgerald , royally complain and have Congress shut him down. This is getting to be a waste of time and taxpayer's money.

Geeze do you think we could get MSM newspapers to publish two issues a day? One could be called "Facts" and would offer the Who, What Where, Why When and How of journalism.

The other could be called "Fiction" for articles such as this and 95% of the other articles they publish with "unnamed source," "sources close to," "anonymous sources" and "what I really thinks about this."
