Iraqi voters have ratified a new constitution by a margin of nearly 4 to 1, election officials announced Tuesday as complete returns showed that the country's disaffected Sunni Arab minority had narrowly failed to muster enough "no" votes in three provinces to block the charter's adoption.
The result, declared 10 days after a nationwide referendum, raised cries of protest from some Sunni leaders, who had claimed that the count was being rigged. But Iraqi election officials and U.N. monitors said a selective recount turned up no significant incidents of fraud.
Shiite Muslim and ethnic Kurdish politicians leading Iraq's coalition government hailed the passage of the U.S.-backed charter, and President Bush declared in Washington that "the Iraqi people have once again proved their determination to build a democracy united against extremism and violence.
Shiites and Kurds in mixed provinces gave the charter "yes" votes of 78 percent in Baghdad, 63 percent in Kirkuk and 51 percent in Diyala. The nationwide "yes" vote was 78.59 percent."

The MSM of course is downplaying it. Surprisingly enough, the LAT was the only one I could find, which put in the title the huge margin, the rest of the articles even have headlines such as the constitution "narrowly" passes, or just that it passes.
Of course this article also immediately goes back and has to note that it didn't magically, immediately make the "insurgents" disappear.
This is a phenomenal success: almost 80% approval with an over 60% turnout.
WOOOOHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Iraq Success Proof PING
The Dims have more and more in common with the Sunnis. Former minority that held onto power, now weeping and gnashing their teeth that they're out of power.
Welcome to election Washington State style.

Thanks for the ping!
Actually, many of the Sunni wanted the constitution to pass look at Baghdad. There is a large Sunni population in Baghdad yet it passed overwhelmingly. They understand that they can ammend the constitution. The specuation that all Sunni voted against it is just flat out wrong.
79 per cent Iraqis vote in favour of constitution

Night F.O.!
The voting machines were fixed. "There are hanging chads," said Edward Kennedy, chiming in with revered Al Sharpton and reverend Jesse Jackson..
"There needs to be a Senate sub-committee investigation to set this election straight," said Charles Schumer and Hillery Clinton. Patrick Laehy and Chrisopher Dodd were in agreement.
IMOHO, This process will go on for months. 20,000 ballot boxes will be shipped to Miami / Dade and the recounts will be monitored under the auspices of former President of the United States, William Jackoff Clinton.
