ABCNEWS TELLS WHITE HOUSE OF 'INDICTMENT' Tue Oct 25 2005 19:08:02 ET
"We have double sourced that the vice president's chief of staff has been indicted," a reporter for ABCNEWS claimed to a White House press spokesman this afternoon.
The White House refused to comment on the claim. The network said they didn't need comment, they were preparing to run with the development on this evening's network news broadcast, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.
ABCNEWS claimed to the White House that it had double sourced how an indictment against vice presidential chief of staff I. Lewis Libby was set.
A senior White House source quickly determined ABC was bluffing; the report did not run on the East coast feed of the program.
Developing...
UPDATE
ABC NEWS spokesman Jeff Schneider tells the DRUDGE REPORT: "There is nothing at all true about us having double sourced anything" regarding indictments.
More from Drudge:
CBS JOHN ROBERTS: Lawyers familiar with the case think Wednesday is when special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald will make known his decision, and that there will be indictments. Supporters say Rove and the vice presidents chief of staff, Scooter Libby, are in legal jeopardy...
Another update from Drudge:
Indictments in CIA leak case about to be handed down
Some guy gave a great quote on Fox and Friends (I think it was):
No one ever got indicted for lying to the press.
Got a link for that info? I'm interested...
Remember when the White House Press Corp informed W that Yasser Arafat just died? Never believe a bunch of liars that make up the WH press corp.
The woman that wrote the law, that Libby & Rove supposedly broke, said that it was written to protect operatives IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES!
She said she thinks this whole quagmire was a covert operation by the CIA designed to overthrow the Bush administration and that if anyone should be indicted, it should be Wilson.
My source was the Sean Hannity radio show in which he spoke to this woman.
Absolutely!
Victoria Toensing is her name.
"We have really gotten to the point of disregard for anything but public opinion."
The only opinion that counts comes from MSM. NOT!
I'll pay for an anti-coagulant...
I guess she could have been o the trip with him.....and the forgeries.....I have no idea about.
Maybe someone already has said this (I haven't read all the comments), but folks, an indictment is not the same as a trial and it sure as heck isn't a conviction. For the life of me, I cannot understand why the media gets so excited about indictments.
That's right. Hannity said her name on TV tonight, but he pronounced it 'Tunsing' which is probably how I would've spelled it if I'd heard him introduce her on the radio.
She was in San Diego doing the spa treatment.
And for the life of me, I can't figure out why the Repubs didn't go after that jerk (whatsitsname) that destroyed
secret documents. Most probably the ABLE DANGER files.
"We have double sourced that the vice president's chief of staff has been indicted,"
Does this mean that ABC usually only uses 1 source, or do they usually use more than 2 sources?
So let's get this straight you want to criminalize somebody allegedly telling the truth. Because he allgedly put a "Undercover" CIA agent's life if jeopardy. A CIA agent whose job is to type reports? Is Al-Queda targeting typists now?
EXcellent question. Not like ABC is complaining about THAT "leak," ha.
I find it interesting that the reporter at the center of this mess actually admitted to using tricks like dropping false names to see if they were corrected. This seems like that same vein of 'journalism' - tell a lie and see if your source flinches. Of course, cops do it all the time, so....
Neener, neener, neener. ABC. The fantasy news network.
