Daniel Craig will have a problem playing the new James Bond - because he hates guns.
The actor will wield 007's famous Walther PPK in the movie Casino Royale.
But he revealed in OK! magazine: "I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other.
"That's a simple fact. I've seen a bullet wound and it was a mess. It was on a shoot and it scared me. Bullets have a nasty habit of finding their target and that's what's scary about them."
Nor does the 37-year-old share Bond's love of Martinis shaken and stirred.
"I love a Martini straight up. I don't think anybody makes a Martini stirred any more," he said.
Craig was unveiled earlier this month as the successor to Pierce Brosnan. He will play a tougher, grittier 007 in Casino Royale, which is based on Ian Fleming's first Bond book.
The movie is due for release in November next year.
Craig is not the first Bond to reveal a hatred of guns.
Roger Moore, who played the superspy from 1973 to 1985, said after quitting the role that he hated "that awful pose" of Bond with his gun which has become an iconic movie image.
The actor later became an ambassador for children's charity Unicef and declared: "Today I am completely opposed to small arms and what they can do to children. I played every role tongue-in-cheek because I don't really believe in that sort of hero. I don't like guns."
This movie will be a dud.
And another one I won`t pay to see.
I love guns ~ Bump!
Now Captian Kirk-- that's more like it. He always had a phaser burn somewhere on his body, and was there an episode where he didn't get his shirt ripped off in a fight?
Okay, the Indian episode... that was pretty gay...
I AM KIR-OK!!!!!!!
As Myamoto Musashi observed some 360 years ago, "the profession of a gentleman warrior is that of arms, so shouldn't he have at least some liking for it?" Thus one could safely conclude that Daniel Craig is no gentleman.
Double "O" FROOT!
Ian Fleming was a blowhard, not a real spy. No one in MI5 or 6 trusted him at all.
The best Bond films were those that hewed most closely to the original Fleming novels, and allowed for a little (dare I say it) character development: "From Russia With Love", "Goldfinger", "The Man With the Golden Gun". The producers made several attempts to wean the audience away from the "gadgets" ("On Her Majesty's Secret Service", "License to Kill"), but those attempts were frustrated by less than adequate scripts and less than adequate leading men (George Lazenby, Tim Dalton, Pierce Brosnan). Sounds as if this "grittier" picture may be yet another attempt to throttle down the toys, and throttle up the plot.
He's abviously a metrosexual nancy boy. Who wants to bet they cast him along side some liberal activist dingbat like Gwenyth Paltrow just to turn the knife in the carcass of the Bond franchise.
Queer Eye for the Spy Guy
Remember when Sean Connery played the Russian skipper in "Hunt for the Red October"? The director had to tell him not to handle a pistol too expertly. All those years playing 'Bond'...
Fleming even described himself as a "chocolate sailor". That's why he made Bond everything he was not (except, of course, for a womanizer; Fleming had an American-sized libido).
Oh yea, this makes me all excited and willing to see the new Bond movies. I'm just giddy with anticipation I tell ya!

Well then, be a metrosexual hero, Dan, armed only with cliches and clever retorts...oh, and strong women in place of those sex kittens Old Bond favored.
Critics will swoon, the film will die at the box office and Bond will go down...not with a bang, but with a wimp.
If they were going to go with "new type" of Bond, would not george Clooney have been better suited?
Yep, you're right. We really don't WANT to know what these yahoos think, do we? (Unless they're John Wayne, in which case - YEEHAH!) Here's a guy getting a potentially great shot-in-the-arm for his career that could give him lifelong visibility to the public, and what does he go on the record as saying in complete contradiction of the character he's going to portray??? - "I don't LIKE guns." - Let's have a train wreck before it even starts, shall we? Next.
They'll have the first Bond boy! Let's see... how about Antonio Banderas?
That's what I like about Hollywood... They're losing 18-39 year old males in droves, so who do they put up on the screen to attract them back? This new Bond guy and Antonio Banderas! Isn't he dreamy?
In the words of "Ed" from "Shaun of the Dead"-- gay....
Metrosexual Bond. The new world!
Bond. Ward Bond.
Bond. Junk Bond.
Bond. Savings Bond.
Bond. Julian Bond.
Apologies in advance for this quitting time, fit-of-silliness post.
Thank you.
