Special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald has just launched his own brand-new Web site.
Could it be that he's getting ready to release some new legal documents? Like, maybe, some indictments? It's certainly not the action of an office about to fold up its tents and go home.
Fitzgerald spokesman Randall Samborn minimized the significance of the Web launch in an interview this morning.
"I would strongly caution, Dan, against reading anything into it substantive, one way or the other," he said. "It's really a long overdue effort to get something on the Internet to answer a lot of questions that we get . . . and to put up some of the documents that we have had ongoing and continued interest in having the public be able to access."
OK, OK. But will the Web site be used for future documents as well?
"The possibility exists," Samborn said.
Among the documents currently available on the site:

Libby didn't "get a push" from anyone. The "reporter" is an idiot. He hasn't written anything but negative pieces about President Bush and/or his administration that I can remember.
Obviously this is just speculation, but if either Libby or Rove broke the law, then they should be prosecuted. The rule of law doesn't make exceptions for our political allies nor the rich and powerful.
And, while it is speculation, it strains credibility that Fitzgerald would put up a brand new website if he doesn't plan on indicting someone next week.
Please tell me how the Bush administration is advancing conservatism? Because I don't see it.
I see them as better than the Democrats, but not conservative according to any definition I am aware of.
Tax cuts, social security reform, court appointments are three to start. And don't try to spin it by focusing on Miers while ignoring Roberts and all the lower court appointments. And even if one wants to undervalue those conservative gains, simply maintaining the status quo is still far better for conservatism than allowing Dems to gain more power to thwart or implement liberal policies.
Moving forward slowly, or even standing still, is far more constructive in reaching a goal than moving backwards. That should be self-evident.
Tax cuts? Are you out of your freaking mind? What tax cuts?
Social Security reform? Are you smoking crack? What Social Security reform?
And exactly WHO did Bush appoint to the bench that you admire?
Names, please?
And please don't say Roberts because then I will know you don't have a clue.
Should of been a bottle of Midol.
Where have YOU been for the last 5 years? What's the matter CB mad cause one of your Legal Establishment cronies did get the SC nominations?
Bush fails to get deserved credit for tax cut benefits
Despite reporting distortions, a congressional report shows the rich pay proportionately more in taxes while all income earners do better
By Donald Luskin
A report from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry claiming it proves that Over the last four years, the burden of taxes has shifted from the wealthy to the middle class.
Those are politically motivated lies that distort the findings of the report. Heres the truth.
The report proves that what President Bush said about his tax cuts is true: Tax relief is for everyone who pays income taxes.
Its true for the rich, and its true for the not-so-rich. Across 109.4 million tax-paying households from the wealthiest 1 percent with incomes averaging over $1 million to the lowest-earning 20 percent of people with incomes averaging $14,900 the report shows that all income classes have seen their income tax rates lowered thanks to Bushs cuts in 2001, 2002 and 2003.
Oh no, a Bush-bot!
If you want to post facts, post facts, and links, too.
Incidentally, if you call the number the new Web site lists for Fitzgerald's D.C. office, the phone is somewhat mysteriously answered "counterespionage section."
Someone is having a good laugh at the media's expense?
Probably Fitzgerald's USDoJ crew that's working on this is called "counterespionage section" since the general subject is related to a "CIA leak".
When's his movie coming out. Earle can give him some tips.
If he's planning on indicting next week he could just as well choose to wait until next week to put up this web page.
I thinks he wants the parties involved to realize they might look like fools if they get carried away in their spinning this weekend. They don't know what information he might put up that will contradict them. The spinners might find it they need to work a little harder and add a few more disclaimers to their spin.
Do you really think that? That Fitzgerald wants to teach a lesson to spinners? So he's using government money and government time to do so?
How curious.
The fact that it was done so late in the game suggests that Fitzgerald is preparing to shut down operations and does not wish to be distracted, particularly as winter closes in on the prairie West of the Windy City of Chicago, and it's vast horde of attorneys seek shelter.
Not curious at all. He doesn't seem to think as highly of reporters as they think of themselves....as special people with special privileges.
I'm talking about the timing of the webpages. Putting up those webpages is not extraordinary, in and of itself.
Good point.
You are simply dishonest, and probably a liar, who will argue in circles just because.
Everyone on this board is aware of the tax cuts he pushed for and got earlier, and that he has now been pushing to make them permanent rather than let them expire. Everyone is aware that he has proposed social security reform, even though he hasn't got it passed yet. Everyone is aware of his attempts to appoint Estrada, Owens, Rogers Brown, etc.
Your feigning ignorance fools no one, and reveals your duplicitous nature. It is one thing to argue that President Bush isn't conservative enough, quite another to put forth a ridiculous notion that he never proposed tax cuts, never attempted SS reform, and never named any conservatives to the lower court bench. If you can't even admit that the sun rises in the east, then you're just a waste of time.
