NYT FRIDAY: Rove and Libby have been advised that they may be in serious legal jeopardy, but only this week has Fitzgerald begun to narrow the possible charges. The prosecutor has said he will not make up his mind about any charges until next week, government officials say... Developing...
I support Bush and Miers unreservedly.
But, I agree with the other poster. This is real trouble. It shouldn't be. There was no underlying crime and, frankly, if Rove or Libby are charged as the New York Times article describes it would be a reckless and extreme abuse of prosecutorial authority.
But, that being said, the Democrats are clearly going to launch the Mother of all Political Battles over this. If we get Republicans jumping ship, well...
What's needed is a counter-offensive. Bush should pardon both Rove and Libby, if they're charged - along with anyone else charged.
"No underlying crime...but he made some up during the proceedings."
EXACTLY. how absurd is it that the crime being investigated is now a done deal - IE it didn't happen. but hey, someone, somewhere, certainly made an inconsistent statement over two years of dullard testimony.
Well good, regarding Miers, as I do think she will be solid. But man, there's seepage of water in the boat and quidnunc is shouting for people to man the life boats.
Get a hold of yourself, man.
Bring it ON ! You betcha!
Anyone with a mind devoid of wing nuts would know that
this alternative version of history spouted by Wilson, Plame and all the Dem running dogs is just smear propaganda. Yousee the dems still believe after 2 elections that Bush somehow stole both elections. He is the first " Illigitimate" US President, and Demagogue democrat prosecutors are sharpening their dullest knives
to take the republican election machine apart.
Of course liberal judges will have their supposed parts to play. The Bush administration is about to declare political war on these reality challeneged Dems. Watch the manure hit the fan over the next several weeks.
No way that any indictment of Rove will make it past a preliminary hearing. ZAP! Plame was not an agent under the law concerned. No Indictment will be issued and if there is one, something stinks in Denmark!
The coming months will be difficult, but unless there is some powerful evidence that has never yet been hinted at in public I find it difficult to believe there is any guilt "beyond a reasonable doubt" for these matters. Certainly it is beyond easy to see "reasonable doubt" about every lying POS reporter of the MSM who might say "I learned X or Y or Z" from Libby or Rove. I don't think a competent defense attorney should have too much trouble winning acquittals on these matters, but I'm no lawyer!! And it is liberal Washington, DC, after all, unless there is some way to win a change of venue to Virginia.
I think the impeachment possibility is still remote, but the 'Rats will base the 2006 Congressional campaigns around using any ridiculous indictments to smear the Bush administration. If there were a majority of Demagogues elected to the House in 2006 then the I-word would be seriously pursued. Doubt they could win in the Senate for conviction, though, unless 2006 proved to be an enormous electoral catastrophe for Republican senatorial candidates, too.
If Fitzgerald really does go for indictments* against Libby and/or Rove then I would think they must push for rapid early trials and aim for vindication before real juries (remember how it's said that a GJ can be much more closely controlled by a prosecutor, and there's no real defense presented to a GJ). I can't believe this nonsense is happening, but there may be emails or statements to the GJ, etc. that have led one or more administration figures into a "perjury trap."
*Which the Grand Jury has to vote for, but I supposed that would be almost a foregone conclusion if a prosecutor recommends indictments of leading Republicans to a GJ in the Demagogic heaven of Washington, DC.
Oh yeah...that will put an end to this political game.
I really think that we underestimate what might happen at our peril.
We face, as I've said before, a conspiracy between the media, the Democratic Party, and certian elements of the judiciary - all of whom have, for all practical purposes, become enemies of the United States.
We need to recognize the danger. Republicans aren't Democrats - the weak sisters among us will fold under pressure.

The "pucker factor" is high. The roster of actual indictments will tell the tale, but this is dangerous ground.
Marvelous. And I already thought Chris Matthews was off his meds... this'll send him over the friggin' edge.
It's the feng-shui they've done over at the DNC. All desks and phones are now facing east, for the power surges generated by sun beams and tin foil receptors. We're doomed.
We don't need lifeboats. We need to man the guns.
No surrender, no retreat. We triumph on this hill, or we die on it.
I'd bet my last dollar on that ... ;-)
Bring it on NY B***hes
Here's an interesting take:
Judith Miller Exonerates Bush Officials
By Cliff Kincaid | October 16, 2005
"The media, of course, are not interested in probing Wilson and Plame, only the Bush administration. The true facts in the CIA-leak case are now becoming astonishingly clear. New York Times reporter Judith Miller's testimony, as she describes it in the Sunday edition of her paper, proves that the wrong people are under investigation. It's not really a story about Bush officials Lewis Libby and Karl Rove and their conversations with the press. Rather, it's a story about a CIA bureaucracy working to undermine the Bush administration through the media and cover up for its own mistakes."

Just cause the slimes wants it to happen doesn't mean it will.
The average citizen doesn't look beyond the headlines. Pretty soon the MSM will be throwing around the term "administration corruption" based on all of the manufactured or magnified "crimes" supposedly committed by people connected to the administration, or Republicans in Congress. They'll be calling for impeachment, and if that doesn't work, they'll at least succeed in paving the way for a democrat President in '08. It's all mapped out, and it will succeed if the electorate doesn't start looking beyond headlines and sound bites.
We need to man the guns and prepare to fight to the death. To make sure that wavering Republicans are reminded of the consequnces of joining with the forces of treason.
The Democrats have Vietnam and Watergate in their hearts. They want to repeat it. We need to fight to the death against the repeat of either. No surrender, no retreat, no apologies, no concessions.
