The Whitehouse would have absolutely nothing to gain by outing Plame,(if you can call it that). Their beef was what Joe said: "Cheney sent me to Niger". Outing Plame would not challenge Joe's lie.

Novak saw the setup when he was approached by the man on the street and wrote his column. Plame was an Operative....a Dem Operative. Novak apologized for using the word. He DIDN'T know anything about the covert stuff but Valerie was not an unknown in Washington. Joe jumped the gun on the word operative.

Involving Rove and Libby in this supposed outing was Cooper's job. What a scheme!! Much more clever than Rathergate. Amazingly enough, there are forged documents involved in this case also.

No no...the Freeper listed his source for the article. I am talking about Yost...who wrote it. His first two paragraphs state a lot of things. But not connected to a source.

Russert has been showing partisan stripes more and more.

This past weekend...Freeh took him out back of the woodshed in an interview. Russert tried to counter all of Freeh's claims....Freeh spanked him.

Maybe Russert is lying and trying to cover his fat butt.

The odds of anyone actually talking to NYT is slim to none. I mean they aren't like CBS. CBS at least requires fraudulent memos faxed from a Kinkos. NYT writers just make stuff up from whole cloth.

From the article: "In grand jury testimony shown to Rove, Libby said he had told Rove about information he had gotten about Wilson's wife from Russert, according to a person directly familiar with the information. "

Those of us old enough to remember Watergate recognize when somebody is making a "non-denial denial", that is they are denying something which is not sufficiently equivalent to what they have been asked about that one can sense that they cannot make a true denial.

This quote regarding Libby's testimony, if true, is NOT a "non-denial denial". It fingers Russert explicitly.

Now the key question. How many times has Russert been called before the grand jury? Could he have been called only once? Could he have become a target of the investigation early on?

Was Russert also a source to Miller? Is that why she did 85 days in the slammer? It may be that everything that Miller described about her grand jury testimony may be true. Libby knew something. But Libby didn't know the name of Wilson's wife.

Did Libby tell Miller that Russert was the source? Did Miller call Russert after the Libby interview and learn the name "Flame"? Did she then make an entry in her notes of that one detail, separate from the notes of the interview with Libby. Is "Russert" the source that Miller was unable to recall despite having 85 days to remember it?

If Russert had taken the fifth before the grand jury, would it have been reported?

The MSM sees this as a way to embarrass the president. What the media does not get is that this case is a non issue to the American public. Nobody cares and this story is blown way out of proportion and is nowhere near as bad as many of Clinton's scandals that received nowhere near as much press attention.

BTW, should we ask someone to start a thread for FReepers to name those whom we think will be indicted?

Well BlessedByLiberty.. I nominate you!!

I don't know who will be indicted, but I say Wilson is the central bad guy. Everyone else associated with, or close to him (including his wife) he duped.

Maybe Russert is lying ...

If Fitzgerald accepts the premise that most journalists lie for a living then there is hope.

The only problem would be if he made the same assumption about lawyers and political advisors, or if the facts in the case were simply other than we hope.
