Ahh. Okay...

You posted this as an AP story without crediting the actual author. (Maybe the author's name wasn't given at the source you utilized.) Anyways, the author is Pete Yost. That matters because it puts the credibility of the story in serious doubt. Here's another thread (same AP story) going on right now.

Blaming Media in Leak Case Not Working (Pete Yost- Ugh!)

This breathless AP hit piece fails to mention one small fact...by any reading of the law supposedly violated here, there was no violation. The law requires a covered agent to have served in a covert capacity within the last 5 yrs. before their identity was revealed. Forgetting the fact that Plame was listed as a CIA employee in "Who's Who" and it was fairly well known she was a CIA employee, she had not had a covert assignment for 9 years prior to her "outting." And even then it was in the UK under only the lightest of cover, unofficial cover.

For a better analysis of this story than this utterly biased AP hatched job, check the Investor's Business Daily's more intelligent, thoughtful, deep and analytical piece today:

Did the inditements come out and the trial start?

Man, I must have missed it.

Has it gone to the jury yet? Were they convicted? How much jail time did they get?

Man, I need to know. :)

Next we're going to find out Cheney has hidden microphones secreted all through the OEOB, and he's got tens of thousands of hours of tapes... well, CD-ROMs, including conversations of all his staff for the past five years.

" Prosecutors, however, have a different account from Russert.
The TV network has said Russert told authorities he did not know about Wilson's wife's identity until it was published and therefore could not have told Libby about it.
Russert also says that it was Libby who initiated the contact with him. "

I was unaware of the legal precedent that says when accounts conflict between the WH and the media-the WH version is always a lie .

"In a Grand Jury investigation, THERE IS NO DEFENSE. Therefore there cannot be a 'crumbling' as the article suggests. IT IS AN INVESTIGATION, NOT A TRIAL."

Ding, Ding, Ding, we have a winner!

Just as there is no report from a GJ unless allowed by a judge, otherwise evidence and testimony is no longer secret.

BTW, should we ask someone to start a thread for FReepers to name those whom we think will be indicted?

My tinfoil hopeful picks:

Wilson
Miller
Cooper
Russert
Matthews

Bonus Points for:
Richard Clark
Sandy Berger

"You should. The media will be on this for 2 years if Libby is indicted and if he resigns they'll go for Cheney."Duhhhhh.

Your ignorant statement makes you sound more like DU mole than someone with some good sense. Go back to the DU playground and celebrate over there.

The press is acting like Libby was caught stuffing his pants with top secret documents.

C'mon. Let churchillbuff climax already! It shouldn't be much longer. It's been amazing seeing all the similar stories he's/she's been posting on this same topic.

This is nothing more than MSM hype and the bleating of stupid sheep at the AP....

Interesting that NONE of the same bastards were eager to see indictments for any of the Clintonistas for any of the MANY crimes they committed against our Republic ...

A POX on all the MSM asses..

Well, I just checked the AP source used by churchillbuff and Pete Yost's name is right there, plain as day. I wonder why churchillbuff didn't think that including the author's name would be a good idea?

One of my self-appointed roles is to post articles on big news stories that many freepers want to ignore for ideological reasons. I'm the anti-Ostrich. I'm also a conservative, which is why I came on freerepublic - to bash Clinton and his lawbreaking.

Well, good thing you posted this. Otherwise another left wing rumor of a rumor of a MSM theory might be ignored.

All we know are what useful idiots are leaking or what reporters wished they were leaking........... grand jury testimony is secret........and so are the conclusions.......so we wait, something the media can't handle.

We should create a new category of 'news' on FR ... something along the lines of 'Beltway Bilge'. This category would include things that excite and energize the beltway bureaucrats and East coast media, but which bore the living hell out of the six billion plus consumers of the news around the world. The Sheehan bus tour and 'Plamegate' fall into this category. Wake me when it's over.
