Mom,

Are you watching? Your Colt 45er's/Astro's have finally made it to the World Series. I wish you were here for me to laugh and cry and cheer and hug with. Mom, sis and I shared the last out over the phone and we were cheering.

Miss you.

Love,
Sally

Television ratings aren't just a function of the local markets. What the networks REALLY want to see is a World Series that attracts viewers all across the country. I don't think the advertisers are going to be thrilled if 100% of the population in the #3 and #10 markets watch the games but nobody else does.

"There's a matchup to make a ratings-hungry network executive take up hard liquor."

A franchise that has never been to the World Series and one that hasn`t won the Fall Classic going back to 1917?

Baseball fans have a good series to watch. The tools can go back to whatever they were doing before the playoffs started.

Just pulled from breaking. The White Sox thread stayed up for hours, this one 5 minutes.

Thank god that they saved conservatism from destruction by the taint of a championship sports thread. Never mind the long history of allowing such threads in Breaking for a couple of hours.

I ticked them off by adding a snarky keyword today, so maybe its a personal thing.

As Bobby Kennedy once said "Now it's on to Chicago and let's win there." Hopefully with better results.

Hopefully with a better outcome.

No, because it is a first for Texas--that is, if they can just take the attention of the state away from the Texas-Texas Tech game on Saturday.

Congrats to the 'Stros! I'm a Braves fan, but will always support the NL team over the AL team. Plus, I'm in San Antonio. Anyone know how to get tickets?

Are you the one who said last year your mom requested blue flowers on her grave when the Astros finally won the pennant? Put me down for a ten-spot to defray costs. Seriously.

I'm going to have my own champagne and barbecue sauce victory shower to commemorate the event.

I won't care-I'm moving to Florida anyway...sick of this cesspool called Houston. I've lived here 40 plus years and hate to see what's happened to this city. I am actually a minority now...kinda weird.
