Miers Critics "Far Right," Says Miers's Ex-White House Officemate

TRANSCRIPT FROM TUCKER CARLSON SHOW:

Adding to the sexism, elitism, faith, and threat cards in the White House arsenal, comes the "far right" card.

Speaking in support of Harriet Miers on Tucker Carlson's MSNBC show last night was Brad Blakeman, described by Carlson as "a former deputy assistant to President Bush [who] shared an office with Harriet Miers for three years."

I'm posting the entire transcript of the Blakeman interview below. Go to the parts in bold to see the "far right" business. CARLSON: ...today one of the many questions regarding Harriet Miers has been answered, in part, anyway, in a questionnaire Miers filled out while running for the Dallas city council in 1989. She clearly indicated, or seemed to, that she's opposed to abortion, unless the mother's life was in danger.

Some conservatives are not satisfied with that, but one who appears to be, joins us now from Washington. He is Brad Blakeman. He's a former deputy assistant to President Bush. He shared an office with Harriet Miers for three years.

Mr. Blakeman, thanks for coming on. [SNIP]

BLAKEMAN: No. I think, Tucker, the president could have put forth Mother Teresa, and there were some on the far right that said, "Well, you know, she's not really religious enough for me."

CARLSON: That's totally not true. You know that that's not true.

BLAKEMAN: No, it is true. The fact of the matter is, the far right...

CARLSON: Hold on. Wait. Hold on. Slow down.

BLAKEMAN: The far right thinks that...

Well somebody did say that the founding fathers would be considered extremists' today. I disagree, obviously.

I dont know. It seems to me that Madison and Jefferson were very appeasable as long as it was politically feasable. Not so much Hamilton, he probably would have been a dictator if he had the chance.

"Do you think that after this is over in a few weeks, Harriet will be available? We need a competent office manager down here. I know she may be a bit over-qualified, but the pay is very good and the perks are above average. Plus, we have rather generous commuter benefits for the users of public transportation."

Writng isn't a job requirement is it?

Let me rewrite this before I am assaulted for poor grammar, poor spell checking ,yada yada.

Spelling seems fine, but you need to work on who you're posting to, as you wrote this one to yourself.

wasn't it schumer that said this pick was a rejection of the extreme right wing? if so, once again it proves how the wh is using leftist rhetoric against it's critics

I dislike this nominee too, but let's not denigrate our President.

Absolutely. I strongly disagree with the Miers nomination, but I stand behind Bush and admire him in many ways. Lay off of the DU-wannabe attacks.

"We will never have a Jeb Bush presidency."

I've said the same thing several times in the last few days. The Bush dynasty is finished in national politics.

All this WH does any more is take its cues from Democrats, even while it pretends to be the alternative to the Democrats, and uses the spectre of the Democrats to scare and blackmail the base into conformity and submission.

"Interesting, isn't it? Instead of coming out to defend their nominee, the Bush administration instead chose to come out and attack the very people who put him in office. Even more ironic is the fact that while making accusations of elitism, the Bush administration is demonstrating elitism itself by being aghast that they be questioned on their choice."

Exactly.

If anything this whole founding fathers argument is a poor argument to attempt, you cant compare what they did then to present day circumstances.

That is the liberals' argument for a "living" Constitution.

"I wouldn't be a bit surprised if President Bush is at least as smart as you! What disrespect. You and the other critics of our President can't shine his shoes! Your post sounds like something right out of DU."

You'll need something more original than that if you want to make your mark here. Maybe you've spent far too much time over at DU already.
