(God, I love the Cardinals. I really do. Each and every one of them. I love them. They are Baseball.)

You realize, don't you, that the Cardinals have sucked, up until that home run.

And, they may suck again, even in St. Louis.

LOL! Now out come the Cards fans. Great win. Now if you excuse me, I am going to be sick.

Not guilty. Just psychic. I should call George Noory tonight. I now have a better record than Sean David Morton. I still really want to see an Astros/ChiSox series.

Do the Cards fans really park in those parking structures in the photo next to the stadium? That must take forever to get out after a game.

Typical of sports fans. You tense up at the end of the game, being afraid to move wrong. But it still doesn't matter what you do.

Plus we have a manager who is a nice guy, but about as bright as Scott McClellen.

I feel your pain (I'm actually a Red Sox fan). Sometimes I feel the same about our manager Terry Francona. Nice guy, but....

Ugh, Cards win. I feel SO bad for you Astros fans! Well, you need just one more win... let's hope the 'Stros can do it.

Back around 1980 the astro's were up 3 games to 1 against the priates or phillies, leading in the 9 inninng. 1 out away from going to the world series. LOL, history repeats itself, maybe.

Yeah, we definitely used to relate to Boston Red Sox fans!

Still 2 games to go, anything could happen.

Bringing in Lidge was still the right move, even if he blows it. He got 2 quick outs and Eckstein squeaked it through. Edmonds walks. Then his slider to Pujols didn't.

Yup, PJ got lucky but it was one hell of a hit out of the park. Here we come St Louie, batton down the hatches for some BGO catches.

Did Lidge walk Edmonds so he could pitch to Pujols and take the loss?

Meet me in St. Louis on Wednesday .....

Cards Rule!

The announcers were already calling it over. Amazing.

They had already buried Bush Stadium. They were saying goodbye to Bush.

Bush ain't dead yet.

Prince Albert comes through. Lidge chokes.

Some do, some just park on the street. Me, I take Metro Link right to the stadium.

BTW...I spent ten years in Houston (1985-1995) and miss Texas very much. I remember that 1986 Mets series. What a heart breaker. But now I'm in St. Louis and I'm having a tough time with this series. I would like the Cards to get to the World Series, but I would really love to see the Astros get there for the first time ever...and win it!

Actually, they were six outs away and had Nolan Ryan on the mound when the Phillies bunted their way into a rally, took the lead, then the Astros roared back to send it into extra innings before losing in the 10th.

When ABC flashed the graphic "Nolan Ryan has never lost a game when leading after eight innings", I knew we were doomed.

They've never been quite this close.

Last year, the Astros could only throw Pete Munro and a tired Roger Clemens for the last two games. This time, it's a healthy Oswalt and an almost healthy Clemens.

We're not dead yet.

Bringing in Lidge was still the right move, even if he blows it.

Absolutely not. Wheeler had been pitching quite well, while Lidge had clearly struggled the last 2 games and was amazingly lucky not to lose one of those (remember the close double play while the runner from 3rd was heading home?) A good manager knows his pitchers, and goes with the hot one to end it, not the shaky one. Garner is going to get ripped hard for that decision, and deservedly so.
