Back around 1980 the astro's were up 3 games to 1 against the priates or phillies, leading in the 9 inninng. 1 out away from going to the world series. LOL, history repeats itself, maybe.
Actually, they were six outs away and had Nolan Ryan on the mound when the Phillies bunted their way into a rally, took the lead, then the Astros roared back to send it into extra innings before losing in the 10th.
When ABC flashed the graphic "Nolan Ryan has never lost a game when leading after eight innings", I knew we were doomed.
They've never been quite this close.
Last year, the Astros could only throw Pete Munro and a tired Roger Clemens for the last two games. This time, it's a healthy Oswalt and an almost healthy Clemens.
We're not dead yet.
They were probably up 2-0 or 2-1. I think the league championship series were still best-of-five back then, weren't they?
