They were probably up 2-0 or 2-1. I think the league championship series were still best-of-five back then, weren't they?

Yes I searched and found a record of that series, they were up 2 games to 1 and leading going into the 8th. Guess my memory is playing tricks on me. But hey my version makes a much better story.
