Bringing in Lidge was still the right move, even if he blows it.

Absolutely not. Wheeler had been pitching quite well, while Lidge had clearly struggled the last 2 games and was amazingly lucky not to lose one of those (remember the close double play while the runner from 3rd was heading home?) A good manager knows his pitchers, and goes with the hot one to end it, not the shaky one. Garner is going to get ripped hard for that decision, and deservedly so.

This textbook managing drives me nuts. Keep the setup guy in, if he starts faltering, THEN bring in Lidge.

Ozzie Guillen has got the right idea...if it aint broke, dont fix it!

Didn't Mitch Williams do something like this, when he pitched for the Phillies?

My mind is fuzzy on it, but it seems he gave up a game-winning home run to decide a LCS or World Series or something. It's been about 10 years ago.
