Mob stones father at grave
17/10/2005 16:25 - (SA) Riot Hlatshwayo Makhado - About 22 people have been arrested for apparently trying to stone a grieving father after his daughter's funeral on Saturday. His daughter died when she drove into a tree, but the mob accused her father of using witchcraft to cause her death, said superintendent Ailwei Mushavhanamadi of Vhembe police in Limpopo on Monday. The mob was part of the mourners who had attended the woman's funeral at NwaXinyama village near Makhado. They even went to the dead woman's home for food afterwards, but then started gossiping about whether she'd been bewitched. A number of them then returned to the graveyard and claim they found her father conducting rituals at her grave. "Apparently, her father had also believed someone had cast a spell on her, and was conducting a spell of his own to bewitch whoever had caused her death," said Mushavhanamadi. Police vehicles stoned But, the mob was convinced he was simply finalising the spell he'd cast on her. They blamed him for her death and started pelting him with stones. Police arrived after being told of a possible attack on the man and ordered the mob to disperse. "The mob started throwing stones at police vehicles and one windscreen was damaged," said Mushavhanamadi. Police arrested 22 people and charged them with public violence. Police were questioning them on Monday morning. It is against the law to label anyone a witch, warned Mushavhanamadi. He said the identity of the man and his daughter were being withheld so as not to jeopardise police investigations. |

Since the subject of witchcraft is involved, I hasten to provide a preemptory answer to the inevitable question....no, I haven't heard any reports of Hillary being in the vicinity.

I dunno....the Wiccans would certainly put up a fuss over that.....they think that they are witches, or so I understand.

Shocking and disturbing how far this country has fallen. Imagine, a father casting a spell on his own daughter!

Calling Miracle Max! Well, even if she had been 'mostly dead' they probably would have come up with a reason to stone her anyway....you'll notice from the 'related articles' sidebar that stoning is quite popular over there, and I doubt that there would have been much interest in calling off a stoning party once it had gotten up steam.

Don't forget the multiculturalist chant --- 'All cultures are equally good, All cultures are equally good, All cultures are equally good'
On the plus side, at least they didn't use guns

Now that they have majority rule in SA, I'm going to take all my money and invest there! Thank God democracy prevailed! As SA continues to collapse, the rest of Africa will lose the one place that still sort of works, that limps along, and with it, all hope.

Shocking and disturbing how far this country has fallen. Imagine, a father casting a spell on his own daughter! That's actually quite tame....if Islam were involved, the father would likely participate happily in the stoning. I think that one extremely important measure of a society and a culture is how they treat their women. If they do stuff like stoning them and burning them alive and forced body disfigurement etc. etc then I'm pretty quick to put them in the "worthless culture that needs overthrowing and reform" column.

You could print out this story and keep it in your wallet to wave in the face of the next liberal who says that inane statement in your vicinity :-)

I think that one reason why the Monty Python troupe is no longer in business is that a lot of the skits that they were doing are now 'nearly' happening in real life :-)

All cultures are equally valid....diversity is our strength...
Can't we make the tax payers of America bring all these marvelous people to our shores? Think of the diversity!Come to think of it, we are already flooded with them.I wonder who had the bright idea of bringing the third world next door to us in America? Who pays for a one-way plane ticket to the U.S. from Somalia,Nigeria,ad nauseum?
