White House officials have a message for conservative Republican senators who have expressed doubt about supporting Supreme Court nominee Harriet Miers.
The West Wing types argue that she will turn out to be just as conservative as President Bush says she is, and voting against her would be an embarrassment over the long term. This message is intended for holdouts including Sam Brownback of Kansas, Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, and Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania.
"If Miers is confirmed and she winds up being what the president says she is, Republican senators who voted against her will look quite foolish," says a GOP insider. This could cause a backlash against these legislators from conservative Bush supporters at the grass roots.

I don't care about any other subjects when discussing the nomination issue
It is obvious in my post I'm making a point of the spending which is out of control. If we can't have small government, border control, balanced budget, and good justices then what else is there?
I'm a realist, I know the Dems blow. No one can't stand them more than I. However, if you don't purge your own party when they begin to act like the one's you despise then what good is your party. It is not us conservatives who are doing this. We were promised a Scalia Thomas. We are only demanding what was promised. Even in the best case scenario she is not a Scalia Thomas. Hugh Hewitt himself, my favorite radio guy, admits she is only a B+ nominee. Not even a Renquist. This is BEST case scenario.
It is the President and any Senators that go along that have caused this. We've always been conservative and always will be. It's the President and some of those with him that have strayed from the camp.
When I was a child I came to believe that America was great because it was the marketplace of ideas. That was the #1 reason in my mind then, and I want it to be now.
Kennedy, Clinton, Schumer et. al. regulated the market with a power grab filibuster, and then the Gang of 7 gave them credibility, effectively closing the marketplace to anyone but those who escaped their definition of *extreme*.
If conservatives and the GOP don't get it soon, America will no longer be great.
Party or principle. Take your pick. It is that simple.
Let me guess that Bush is going to threaten Conservatives with pork barrel spending, entitlements, open borders, CFR, and cronyism. Bush has jumped the shark.

Asking that a politician President Bush, and a political party, the Pubbies, honor promises which swept them into office isn't "Lynch Mob" mentality at all.
It is what civilized men have always known was the bare minimum for a political system to function - keeping one's promise.

What American citizens are aware of and rejecting, is that a "business friendly" justice (as miers has been described) would agree with Kelo, which was a "business friendly" decision, after all.
Americans prefer their judges "Constitution friendly".

Since Senators are now elected by the People, unlike the President, that process has gotten a little more politicized. That was a mistake.
I hope it is either a typo or irony. Not knowing which, I have to pass on that line.

People underestimate the gravity of what is unfolding.

The people are ignorant of the workings of government, and lazy and decadent. The ruling class has a pretty darn firm grip, and they are not going to let go.
When I was a mere child, walking into my first voting booth I had what was perhaps America's last choice between a clear good and a clear evil on a Presidential ballot.
I refer, of course to the Goldwater/Johnson choice. Being a mere child still in my Liberal stage, I voted for evil.
In the last Presidential election I had a choice of evil and much less evil. So I voted for Bush over Kerry, 'cause Kerry was Skerry! Sorry - I just couldn't resist putting that in.
Alas, what I feared seems to be true. Bush is much less of a Constitutional originalist than many here would like. Kelo made that clear. So did Jr. Bush's "Florida doesn't need any more ED protection" and then the Riviera Beach ED debacle hit the media.
Elder Bush was a clear believer in the "New World Order" as he often said, and President Bush and Governor Bush are no friend to private property rights.
Better to pressure when we can than to simmer after being scewed.

I'm just sick and tired of people masquerading as conservatives whose only hobby in life is to try to do as much damage to the conservative movement as possible over any slight they can imagine. What I find extremely comical about this crew, is that so many of YOU are convinced he's right. Okay folks, you'll probably get your way. This may be the last chance we have to affect the court to this degree for decades, and you guys get your panties in a twist every time someone voices concern. It's not against the grain for honest conservatives to have grave concerns on this issue. I do. I'm not the only one.
