American Girl teams with pro-abortion, pro-lesbian group

Possibly some of you have daughters who play with the American Girl dolls or read their books. You may even be thinking about buying a doll or books for Christmas. Well, it turns out American Girl (owned by Mattel) is partnering with a group called Girls Inc. to sell a bracelet, the "I Can" band, which financially supports Girls Inc. Seventy cents of every purchase goes to Girls Inc. The band is sold on the American Girl webpage with a large ad and a link to the Girls Inc. webpage. In addition, the webpage says American Girl is giving $50,000 to Girls, Inc.

The problem here is that Girls Inc. has on their webpage a statement saying they particularly support abortion and a girl's right to abort an unwanted baby. They were quite clear about their support for Roe, so there is no mistake or room for confusion on that count. Additionally, Girls Inc. supports contraceptives for girls.

They also support and offer resources encouraging lesbian and bi-sexual lifestyles, actually offering resources for girls. One of their publications states, "The emergence of a lesbian identity is an ongoing process, rather than an event."

Of course, American Girl itself is a separate company, unrelated to Girls, Inc. except now by webpage and the seventy cents on every bracelet. I checked out the Girls, Inc. website, and it is exactly as I have told you. Below are some direct links, so that you can see them for yourself.

Please send them an email expressing your disappointment and let American Girl president Ellen Brothers know the company's decision casts a great shadow over their trustworthiness to put the welfare of girls and children first.

Maybe they should come out with a Planned Parenthood "American Girl" Doll. A beatiful fancy box festooned with PP's logo/web address, a hefty price tag and inside the box . . . no doll.

Thanks for the information. No more American Girl baby dolls in this house. Nor American Girl books.

Well, they've been leaning this way for awhile; I first noticed it when they introduced their (not too successful) 'Girls of the World' line.

Well, darn it. :-(

I wanted to introduce my 5 y/o daughter
to the series, but forget that now.
Glad I didn't purchase the books and dolls
I originally planned to get her for her
birthday next week.

Is *nothing* sacred? *sigh*

This is a shame, because we have for many years bought and enjoyed the American Girl products for our daughters (21 and 9). But this Girls Inc. outfit openly advocates on behalf of homosexuality, premarital sex, and abortion. We should at least write to AG and try to get them to withdraw their promotion of this immoral group.

Excerpts from the girlsinc.com website (bolding added):

Advocacy Statements

Girls have the right to be themselves and resist gender-stereotypes.

Working with girls and young women, we also endeavor to eliminate sexism, racism, homophobia and other forms of discrimination.

Girls have the right to accept and appreciate their bodies.

To make responsible decisions about sexuality, pregnancy and parenthood, girls need and have a right to sensitive, truthful sexuality education; convenient access to safe, effective methods of contraception and protection from disease; and referral to comprehensive information, counseling, clinical and other services that support their responsible decisions. We recognize that any sizable group of girls includes those who face issues related to their sexual orientation or that of a family member and who face discrimination based on this sexual orientation. Girls have a right to positive, supportive environments and linkages to community resources for dealing with issues of sexual orientation.

We recognize the right of all women to choose whether, when, and under what circumstances to bear children. Reproductive freedom and responsibility are essential to other rights and opportunities, including pursuit of education, employment, financial security and a stable and fulfilling family life. Restrictions of reproductive choice are especially burdensome for young women and poor women. Girls Incorporated supports a woman’s freedom of choice, a constitutional right established by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973 in Roe vs. Wade.

"American Girl teams with pro-abortion, pro-lesbian group"

Well, it's pretty easy to see where "Girls Inc's" head is at by looking at the photo of the "traditional" American girls on their web page. And for those of you who are paranoid, it's not the girls' race that I'm referring to. It's their cool and jive attitude and politically-correct selection.

These companies think there is more money in supporting abortionists, perverts and atheists than Chrisitians. It is good to boycott this crap because that is the only message they know and it how the libs have taken over most of these companies today. The diversity mantra is a lib/communist program used to divide us and keep us suspicious about each other and generate hate.

My daughters always wanted "American Girl" dolls, but they are obscenely expensive.

The "My Twinn" dolls cost as much as down payment on a new car.

I guess it's "Trailer Trash" Barbie for my granddaughters!

Good Grief. Thank you so much for letting us know.

I guess I'd better get my butt in gear and start sewing. Bitty Baby Clothes are on the list of 3 granddaughters.
