A federal court ruling in favor of environmentalists is forcing the Forest Service to suspend more than 1,500 permits for activities ranging from fire prevention to Boy Scout meetings and also is threatening to delay cutting of the Capitol's Christmas tree until after the new year.
A Forest Service regulation that allowed projects determined as having minimal environmental impact to be exempt from environmental studies and reviews was challenged by the Earth Island Institute.
Judge James K. Singleton of the Eastern District Court of California ruled in July against a project to remove charred and damaged trees, which could kindle a future fire, in the Sequoia National Forest.

And what is the real purpose of that?

How quickly the evirotwits forget the damage the BS policies cause...
The Rodeo-Chediski in 2002 and the Mt. Lemmon Fire in 2003 both here in Arizona were a perfect study in the damage their absurd policies cause. The forest service stated that both fires were harder to control, burned longer, and caused more damage. this was all due to the fact that The Sierra Club and its ilk sued to stop undergrowth clear out and sued to severely restrict controlled burns..
The envirotwits will end up doing more damage to the environment with the misguided science and policies then the will ever help.

These crazy lawsuits are brought about by the fact that we just have too many laws. We need to repeal about half of them.

Exactly, what can a month or two possibly mean to a Christmas tree? I only hope there is someone in DC, that has the balls to just say that is a really stupid decision.

The proper solution to this problem is to sell the bulk of the land to private parties.
The federal government has no constitutional authority to own vast amounts of land.

"I think they copied this from Front Page Mag. The story for those interested:"
No need to read it. I contracted to the Corps for years and participated in numerous conference calls where the main topic was how for the Corps to do it's job in NO while still appeasing the enviro-nazis. Far too often, the enviros flexed considerable legal and legislative muscle (read DEMOCRAT reps, and senators). We know now we can't have both.
