A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Another cute list I found in my email not long ago.I would like to have done graphics to illustrate all of them instead of just part, but this is a pretty good start; let's see if you can add some in your comments. You might also think of some scenarios that aren't included here, but at any rate, I bet you'll be quick to recognize all of these!
1. Large, loft-style apartments in New York City are well within the price range of most people - whether they are employed or not.
2. At least one of a pair of identical twins is born evil.
3. The Eiffel Tower can be seen from any window in Paris.
4. Once applied, lipstick will never rub off - even while scuba diving.
5. It's easy for anyone to land a plane, providing there is someone in the control tower to talk you down.
6. Should you decide to defuse a bomb, don't worry which wire to cut. You will always choose the right one.
7. Even when driving down a perfectly straight road, it is necessary to turn the steering wheel vigorously from left to right every few moments.
8. It does not matter if you are heavily outnumbered in a fight involving martial arts: your enemies will wait patiently to attack you one by one by dancing around in a threatening manner until you have knocked out their predecessors.
9. You're very likely to survive any battle in any war, unless you make the mistake of showing someone a picture of your sweetheart back home.
10. If you decide to start dancing in the street, everyone you meet will know all the steps.
11. All grocery shopping bags contain at least one stick of French bread.
12. When you turn out the light to go to bed, everything in your bedroom will still be clearly visible, just slightly bluish.
13. Police departments give their officers personality tests to make sure they are deliberately assigned a partner who is their total opposite.
14. Honest and hardworking policemen are traditionally gunned down three days before their retirement.
15. During all police investigations, it will be necessary to visit a strip club at least once.
16. A detective can only solve a case once he has been suspended from duty.
17. A man will show no pain while taking the most ferocious beating, but will wince when a woman tries to clean his wounds.
18. If a large pane of glass is visible, someone will be thrown through it before long.
19. If you are blonde and pretty, it is possible to become a world expert on nuclear fission at the age of 22.
20. If staying in a haunted house, women should investigate any strange noises in their most revealing nightgown.
Okay, your turn! :) There are several just begging to be illustrated, but don't forget.....

GREAT thread, Miss Billie. Fine looking and funny ... I had to laugh at more than one those movie gimmicks. Hi there, Mr. Fox. Thank you very much. Glad you got a chuckle out of it. All so true, all so predictable, all so often, in so many movies. :)

How Tarzan swung on countless jungle vines and they always were strong and sturdy - never breaking with his weight - and never dropped Jane?
Only in the movies..:)) Hi, Maggie! Yep. Only in the movies, all the time in the movies. :) Thanks for adding your very fitting illustrations to your contributions!

The movie discussion is appropriate - he tells me one of the best things we can send to him for the soldiers in his unit to share is DVD's - apparently the little DVD players are pretty common, & they love the movies. Hi, Ike - thanks for telling us about your son so that we could include him in our prayer list of Freeper loved ones serving our country. Those little DVD players are wonderful, aren't they. :)

This prompts a memory *NOT* A MOVIE, but one in my real life!!
Scene:
House in the Woods
Fairbanks, Alaska, 1963
Characters:
Husband and two sons (Steve-9; Kevin-8) of LadyX
Story:
Said house was located just 2 miles from the airport west of town, and these two well-behaved but inquisitive boys walked to the airport to watch the planes take off and land.
Knew their Dad had been taught to fly planes as a teenager by his older brothers who'd flown in WWII.
By sheer concidence, Dad was off duty from the AirForce that day, and drove out to - you guessed it! - watch the airplanes take off and land.
What transpired:
Nearing the airport, Dad spotted an old B-25 that was permanently parked by the runway.
Noted the chock blocks were in place, and one engine was cranking up.
Parked station wagon to watch further developments.
Glancing toward the cockpit, he saw a small face peer out and a small hand wave hello to him!!
YIKES!! Small Person with said face and hand was Kevin!!
Horrified, it turned out they had innocently climbed into it to check out the cockpit and *pretend* to fly - somehow had started one engine and were about to start the other!
Outcome:
Dad explained he/they could have been arrested/punished/taken away, and his military career down the tubes.
No further punishment after lecture needed!
It so happens both in adulthood learned how to fly planes.
Steve went on to his present position as a Physician Assistant (U of Florida School of Medicine grad; PhD @ 8 months away) with a group of Oncology Clinics in Florida, and hadn't the time to continue that.
Kevin went into the Army and FAA training - finished the last 13 semester hours of college after discharge and was going for a Masters in Business, but the civilian FAA freeze broke, and he's been in government service over 27 years now.
Currently at West Palm International Airport in charge of training the trainers.
Still has his pilot's license. When he was at Ft. Lauderdale's airport, often flew co-pilot with a good friend on Angel Flights to Gainesville, taking seriously ill children there for treatment.
[My sons, of course, always were angels, and still are..:))]

You did the animation? Excellent!!! I did. It was a single jpeg in a group of photos Dolly sent in regular email not long ago. :)Raise the arm in second frame, change the expressions on both faces and move both upper bodies just a tad in the third and last frame, adding the "Wahhh"!

Ever notice in all the cartoon stories of "Little Red Riding Hood" or "The Tree Little Pigs", the Wolf always gets pummeled?
Must be a message there!?! :)
Howdy, Louie!
To: Diver Dave
LOL! Where was P.E.T.A. when they were needed? : )
But he did get to do away with 'grandma'. : )

Ah - but *Our Wolfie* would not touch a hair on Little Red Riding Hood's head, or huff and puff and blow down the pigs' houses!!
[Keep in mind his knee injuries/surgeries prevent that..:))]
