A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Another cute list I found in my email not long ago.I would like to have done graphics to illustrate all of them instead of just part, but this is a pretty good start;   let's see if you can add some in your comments. You might also think of some scenarios that aren't included here, but at any rate, I bet you'll be quick to recognize all of these!

1.   Large, loft-style apartments in New York City are well within the price range of most people - whether they are employed or not.

2.   At least one of a pair of identical twins is born evil.

3.   The Eiffel Tower can be seen from any window in Paris.

4.   Once applied, lipstick will never rub off - even while scuba diving.

5.   It's easy for anyone to land a plane, providing there is someone in the control tower to talk you down.

6.   Should you decide to defuse a bomb, don't worry which wire to cut. You will always choose the right one.

7.   Even when driving down a perfectly straight road, it is necessary to turn the steering wheel vigorously from left to right every few moments.

8.   It does not matter if you are heavily outnumbered in a fight involving martial arts: your enemies will wait patiently to attack you one by one by dancing around in a threatening manner until you have knocked out their predecessors.

9.   You're very likely to survive any battle in any war, unless you make the mistake of showing someone a picture of your sweetheart back home.

10.   If you decide to start dancing in the street, everyone you meet will know all the steps.

11.   All grocery shopping bags contain at least one stick of French bread.

12.   When you turn out the light to go to bed, everything in your bedroom will still be clearly visible, just slightly bluish.

13.   Police departments give their officers personality tests to make sure they are deliberately assigned a partner who is their total opposite.

14.   Honest and hardworking policemen are traditionally gunned down three days before their retirement.

15.   During all police investigations, it will be necessary to visit a strip club at least once.

16.   A detective can only solve a case once he has been suspended from duty.

17.   A man will show no pain while taking the most ferocious beating, but will wince when a woman tries to clean his wounds.

18.   If a large pane of glass is visible, someone will be thrown through it before long.

19.   If you are blonde and pretty, it is possible to become a world expert on nuclear fission at the age of 22.

20.   If staying in a haunted house, women should investigate any strange noises in their most revealing nightgown.

Okay, your turn! :)   There are several just begging to be illustrated, but don't forget.....

21) A machine gun will never run out of ammo no matter how many times you pull the trigger.

It keeps going and going and going...... :)

"My mom was born in Hollywood but not this one the other Hollywood in Florida. :)
Didn't you live there at one time?"

Close to there - born in Miami proper; briefly lived in Orlando - age 2 until 9 1/2 back down state in Coral Gables (separate city within Miami's borders).
Then moved up to Melbourne - later Port Malabar, Ft. Pierce, and Panama City.

Steve is in West Port St. Lucie now, and Kevin in Lake Worth.

I love the tables you used in the Opener plus the graphics, everything is so well coordinated, was wondering how you got the jagged edge on the side of the paper table.

Hi, Aqua! I'm so glad you made it today.

Thank you for the compliment on today's opening. Actually, I found that whole parchment background quite a while ago - it's the whole center background, including the jagged and navy edges on both sides - have been anxious to use it and never seemed to find just exactly the right time to do it, so I made today's thread the right time. :)

Nice thread, Billie.

More things learned in the movies (found them on the net.)

- All telephone numbers in America begin with the digits 555.

- Cars that crash will almost always burst into flames.

- A cough is usually the sign of a terminal illness.

-When in love, it is customary to burst into song

- When confronted by an evil international terrorist, sarcasm and wisecracks are your best weapons.

- Creepy music coming from a cemetery should always be investigated more closely.

- When they are alone, all foreigners prefer to speak English to each other.

- Action heroes never face charges for manslaughter or criminal damage despite laying entire cities to waste by their actions.

- You can tell if somebody is British because they will be wearing a bow tie.

Hi, Victoria - those are great! I think the 'foreigners speaking English when they're alone was on the list I got - I left off three or four when there were so many that I didn't get illustrations for. :)

They are funny, aren't they? And it's true, too

I don't know if it's my computer or FR is very slow right now.

Me, too! I'm still on a modem but bought a new computer about a month ago, and it's so much faster than my old one I *feel* like I have cable! LOL

This evening it's been slower than usual.

Thought so. I've never been that far South, the furthest I've been was Titusville during the moon launch.

Well it looks great. I have a table background in mind but no subject matter for it yet. If it ever comes together will have to make a "guest" Post one day.

"Thought so. I've never been that far South, the furthest I've been was Titusville during the moon launch."

Yes - I remember the coincidence we both were there for that glorious moment in history!

We had just left the Air Force and were visiting Bernie's brother, Jack, who worked for NASA as a Quality Control Engineer.
We watched the launch from the west side of the Indian River, directly across from the Cape.

If that sight was not awesome enough,
then came the ROLLING THUNDER, reverberating right through you!!!

That sounds like the same memory that I have of the event. Was looking across water at the launch pad when everything lit up and then the rolling thunder. It was one of those moments that you never forget.
