Open Challenge to the "Conservative" Punditry. Stand and Deliver time boys and girls.
OK. Let's forget about your inexcusable conduct towards Miers and deal. The LIBERALS are LAUGHING at you. They cannot believe you are all THIS stupid. They are watching, in stunned disbelief, as YOU do THEIR job in destroying the 1st Republican Majority in 50 years. All you "Conservatives" are all telling us "You can't trust Bush" and "We can win this fight". Well guess what. We have NO proof we can trust you. WHERE is YOUR paper trail?
NONE of you were able to convince the Senate to overturn even 1 Filibuster or get a single piece of legislation passed. So you want us to spit on Bush who HAS a 100% rating on Judicial Appointments and embrace your HOPES that you can win this Judicial fight in the weak kneed Senate? Sorry. NEED to see some proof to validate your claims. Need to see a PAPER TRAIL.
'That's not OUR job' I can hear you all scream. By stabbing Bush in the back, YOU MADE it YOURS.
Here is the deal. Let's have a Contract for Justice. YOU big talking people who are all pissed about Miers go out and get 51 Senators to put in writing, their names on a contract with the Conservative Base. They, the Senators, promise they will: Vote for the "nuclear options" to get rid of this Judicial Filibuster nonsense and provide a list of names of Conservative Establishment Judges all of the 51 Senators on the Contract WILL vote to confirm.
You are all screaming "Trust us we can win" WHAT? You "Conservative" pundits haven't managed to deliver anything. Bush is out every day busting his hump while you all sit on your butts and whine about Bush. You watch a Senate repeatedly betray the Conservative base and SAY NOTHING. You all cannot even get action on Soc Security Reform! THE LARGEST single Govt entitlement is ON THE table and you all are too busy shooting at your own side to get ANY action. So put up or shut up "Conservative pundits". You all claim we should "trust us, we can win this fight".
Sorry SEE NO PAPER TRAIL to suggest we have ANY reason to trust your pronouncements. Put up time. Either GET something done or GET OFF OUR SIDE. See I am going to let you in on the dirty secret. YOU did NOT create US. WE, the little Red State peons, CREATED YOU. WE are the people who buy your books, watch your shows, go to your events, support your causes. YOU exist because WE want you too. However, since the days of Reagan you all have been a bunch of primping geeks whining about everything. 1st time in 50 YEARS we have ALL of it and you all spend your time bitching because life isn't perfect. So Hannity, Levin, Lowry, Buchannan, Kristol, Fund, Ingraham, Coulter, Malkin et al. Throw down. Let's see YOUR paper trail.
If I win the lottery I'm starting the Conservative Party.
When President Bush and the RNC start acting like Conservatives the Conservative Base will applaud and support their re-election. They are currently/finally reaping what they have sown over the past 5 years: out-of-control spending, no border/immigration enforcement, a PC undeclared war on a nebulous concept/emotion called "terror," etc..
My loyalties are to America and those in uniform who protect her, not to self-serving sell-outs and/or their political parties/cronies in D.C.
YOU SAID IT!
Best FR post EVER!
Well said!!
DustyMoment is proud of you.
With all their degrees from prestigious schools, they haven't written a law, eliminated a regulation, taken courageous actions against terrorists, or used any law degrees among them to further the cause of liberty by writing serious constitutional studies (a credible "paper trail"). Some have simply used whatever writing talent they have for making bucks from flamboyant headline-grabbing "exposes" of Democrats.
As a matter of fact, they are not even willing to abide by and support the Constitution's own process for selecting a Supreme Court justice. If so, they would acknowledge that it is the President's and the Senate's prerogative and that Federalist 76 explains why the wise Framers of our Constitution chose to do it that way, instead of making it the circus they are now attempting to create.

"Republicans got Roberts through. What makes you think it cannot be done again?"
Because Roberts was a throwaway. If Rheinquist doesn't die, chances are Roberts doesn't get in without a fight.
The writer is correct here. Put up or shut up.
Once again, with this nomination, it was only minutes before the torrent of squeals became horrendous, before anything was even known about the nominee. Unfortunately this time around those who feel they didn't get "their way" kept the wave going and turned the whole thing into a feeding frenzy with no attention being paid to anything other than their agenda.
Take a breath and chill. How about gathering all of the information before coming out with an opinion for or against. It might not be a bad thing to have someone on the court who can weigh an issue against the constitution and who has a fairly normal background. Remember, the people doing all of the screaming about how unqualified she is are other lawyers who have a largely academic/specialized set of experiences in the law. They are the ones saying that she "just does not have the set of experiences needed to make these decisions". They speak from their elite background and experiences and that does not make them right nor does it make them experts on what type of experience is needed. Hell, there is not even a requirement in the constitution for a supreme court justice to be a lawyer.
EXACTLY! And one wonders why!!!!
No, they promised him a $1+ cut for every $1 raised. I heard Paul Harvey at the time discuss it on his radio program, also read a detailed report by him in his column on an editorial page years ago.
No, President Bush picked who he thought would do the best job! He is not the idiot you and the left are making him out to be! How you can join in with them is beyond me.
Pray for W and Harriet Miers
Of course, the Democrat House never cut a dime.
That's why I say Reagan got snookered.
No kidding. And he seems satisfied with that situation.
what makes you think that a bomb-throwing radical (I mean that as a compliment) like Janice Rogers Borwn would get a vote for SCOTUS? It wouldn't happen; not with the current lineup in the Senate. I hate it, but that's reality.
If the Senate doesn't vote on a nominee, the President can recess apoint the position. He did so with Bolton.
Bolton.
Like kissing your sister.
