Paris - Authorities evacuated the Eiffel Tower on Sunday following an anonymous bomb threat, police said.
After a Paris police station received a threatening telephone call on Sunday, authorities asked visitors and workers to leave the monument, police said.
A squad of explosives experts headed to the scene - standard procedure after such threats.
Police turned up nothing suspicious during a search, and people were authorised to return to the monument after about an hour.
The 324m tower is one of France's top tourist attractions, with more than 6 million visitors in 2004.
Let Team America handle it! :)
Could be terrorists testing the system, looking for weak links in the response chain.
Cute movie...a word of advice to parents of grown children...do not watch it with them. You will die of embarrassment.
You are probably correct. Remember that the Washington monument was closed on friday because of a bomb threat as well.
Sacre bleu!!!
Get out of Paris! No blood for fromage!
Sorry, but I HAVE to ask.... Agile/Vertically Challenged/Stage Vet/Comfortable with Myself?
I'm all of these, but a strait dude.
Nothing implied, just a request for confermation.
Has the French government issued its surrender yet?
Click on my screen name, and rest assured....
Phone in a bomb threat and watch the infidels run! ;-)
You do realise that France is a prime target for terrorist revenge. Ask CENTCOM about French participation in Operation Enduring Freedom? That alone makes France a target.
Only last week French Mirage aircraft were involved in strafing and bombing Taliban/Al Q positions in Afghanistan.
