The people who want to close the southern border are using terrorism as an excuse. If stopping immigration meant more terrorism, they still would be for it.
A guest worker program where the non terrorist have to go through background checks but then get in legally is the best way to stop terrorists at the border, because the non terrorists will come to you and this makes it easier to spot the terrorists who don't come to you.
