Target Corporation will continue to ban the Salvation Army from their 1,351 stores this Christmas season. The Army will not be allowed to place their red kettles in front of Target stores.
Despite increased need caused by the hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Target continues to bar the Salvation Army.
Many observers feel that the ban by Target is a result of pressure put on the company by homosexual groups. Homosexual activists have targeted the Salvation Army for years because of the Army's refusal to recognize their lifestyle. Target is a supporter of various homosexual causes.
While Target contributes to homosexual groups, the company publicly states that they will not contribute to any religious groups. For Target, homosexual organizations are worthy of financial support, Christian and Jewish organizations are not.
Further showing Target's true colors, WTOP Radio Network in Washington, DC, reports that Target is one of the national chains that will be carrying a new line of women's products that includes a vibrator.
Elexa by Trojan spokeswoman Cassandra Johnson says the products will be discreetly packaged and sold in the feminine care aisle.
"Formerly the domain of sex shops, such products have been brought out of the shadows by popular television shows like 'Sex and the City,'" WTOP reported.
While Target continues to ban the Salvation Army, competitors such as Wal-Mart are increasing their donations to the Salvation Army. Wal-Mart and others continue to welcome the Army's kettles.
Please send an email asking Target to end their ban of the Salvation Army and their offering of a sex toy line of products. In addition, you can email Wal-Mart, thanking them for supporting the Salvation Army.

Ack!
" ...effectiveness of boycotts ..."
like this same group's effective boycott of Disney World?
Disney's profits have suffered greatly. Micheal Eisner is out as CEO and has recently, even been excluded from Board Meetings. Boycotts busted an entire country called South Africa and ended an apartheid government that held power for more than a century.
Jesse Jackson has made a comfortable living threatening boycotts. Do you think all these companies that kowtow to his threats do so for fun and profit?
Disney's profits and Eisner's status have naught to do with the boycott of various Christian groups. Their attendance hasn't suffered from that element's avoiding their theme parks.
The success of boycotts seems to depend on the boycotting group .. blacks in the US are more cohesive than Christians They have the infrastructure, are in more tightly knit communities, and a decades long history of political activism and boycotting. Corporations that cave in to Jackson need neither the boycott nor the costs of litigation, so make a corporate decision to settle cheap and dirty. So, yes they Do do it for profit.
There are hundreds if not thousands, of Christian denominations who can't seem to agree on much of anything .. and that does not lead to a successful boycott.
I never said all boycotts work but at least we agree that some do work. If there was an impact by Christians, I suppose it is debatable. Do you have any evidence it didn't work?
Yes, wasn't there a "boycott" on Target last year? They don't appear to be suffering any. I was just there today and bought some cleaning products and cat food.
My Cousin graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1974. We lived all over the place so I graduated from Connecticut. Both my parents are buried in Ruckersville. I try to go back and see my family a couple of times a year. My husband wants to retire in Virginia-assuming we have retirement. My husband works for GM and Delphi just declared bankruptcy. This is really bad news for GM. They must cover Delphi pensions, and the workers have the right of return as well.
I won't send this on - If Target wants to sell vibrators who cares. They're not forcing anyone to use them. It's on an isle where it belongs - not like they have a stand in front of the store with free demonstrations. To put things in perspective, maybe people will use
them instead of having premarital sex - which is the worse thing here?
Re the red kettles - they're everywhere. I for one get tired of people asking me for money. We donate but do it through the mail or on-line so we know for sure the money is going where it's supposed to and not into the hands of some person who may have found a red kettle and
decided to try their luck.I know I'm sounding pessimistic, but it's not uncommon for fraud to
take place. People have given millions and millions for Katrina, Rita,. . .if they're inclined to give, they will give wherever - not having it at a Target is not going to hurt them. We live in America. I'm very against the war but believe the people over there are fighting for the
rights and protection of America. I personally think it's for oil and power, but . . . Regardless, I support the soldiers there and if they're fighting for
our freedom, then we have the freedom to sell what we want in stores as much as we have the freedom not to buy them.
Forgot all about 9/11 already? Bet you're not here long.
How can you claim to support the troops, but you're very against the war?
Do you also belong to Code Pink? What's your screen name at DU?
Let me be the first to issue a troll-alert. Here kitty kitty.

Well the old fashioned way is the most fun. However, there are some more scientific alternatives (not recommended).
