Target Continues Ban on Salvation Army, Adds Sex Toy Products
American Family Association | 10/7/2005 | Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman

Posted on 10/07/2005 1:30:13 PM PDT by dvan

Target Corporation will continue to ban the Salvation Army from their 1,351 stores this Christmas season. The Army will not be allowed to place their red kettles in front of Target stores.

Despite increased need caused by the hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Target continues to bar the Salvation Army.

Many observers feel that the ban by Target is a result of pressure put on the company by homosexual groups. Homosexual activists have targeted the Salvation Army for years because of the Army's refusal to recognize their lifestyle. Target is a supporter of various homosexual causes.

While Target contributes to homosexual groups, the company publicly states that they will not contribute to any religious groups. For Target, homosexual organizations are worthy of financial support, Christian and Jewish organizations are not.

Further showing Target's true colors, WTOP Radio Network in Washington, DC, reports that Target is one of the national chains that will be carrying a new line of women's products that includes a vibrator.

Elexa by Trojan spokeswoman Cassandra Johnson says the products will be discreetly packaged and sold in the feminine care aisle.

"Formerly the domain of sex shops, such products have been brought out of the shadows by popular television shows like 'Sex and the City,'" WTOP reported.

While Target continues to ban the Salvation Army, competitors such as Wal-Mart are increasing their donations to the Salvation Army. Wal-Mart and others continue to welcome the Army's kettles.

Please send an email asking Target to end their ban of the Salvation Army and their offering of a sex toy line of products. In addition, you can email Wal-Mart, thanking them for supporting the Salvation Army.

Send Your Email To Target and Wal-Mart Now! Please help us spread this important information about Target by forwarding this to your friends and family.

Sincerely,

Don

I have known 5 soldiers that served in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. I have a cousin headed to Iraq next month--he is an Apache helicopter pilot. These soldiers were universally angry with the phony media reporting and the way they were turning the populace against the war on terror, and worse yet, the soldiers themselves.

Well?

I know where I won't be shopping this Christmas. Target, the HO HO HO store, and no, this is not the laugh of a jolly old elf.

Yeah.

I had a very similar statement to that effect on my profile for the first year and 3 months I was on this site.....

We were able to get some of the news coverage both through the Orbit Satellite service that came with the building we were in and through the AFN network that we streamed....

Which part of this piece is having you not shop at Target?

The Salvation Army part mostly. You see, I'm a volunteer fireman. If I am out at 3 am in freezing weather, so is the Salvation Army. Can't tell you how many times I wrapped myself around a hot cup of their coffee. I support my friends.

I also have 2 young daughters I take shopping all the time and I don't need to explain gaudy end of aisle displays of sex toys with "Press here and try me" printed on the package to them.

Queers and their liberal allies are the enemy of my country and I won't support them or anyone that supports them either. Same goes for the klan, the klan with a tan, crats and nazis.

That enough for ya.

Okay, let me preface this by saying I wouldn't go in there and by that stuff. I may joke around on here but that's really not my style. Now, having said that, I will tell you I have two daughters myself that I wouldn't show that stuff to but there are also many things in CVS, Rite Aid that I wouldn't care to discuss with them yet but I don't expect the rest of the world to come to a halt for my children.

As far as the Salvation Army goes at Target, are they letting other organizations hang out and ask for money and only banning them or are they banning all forms of solicitations?

Well............lets be honest. The kind of customers Target supports, and is courting with this merchandise, are the ones that need these toys, and they don't have or want husbands.

I really don't know. When the word came out last year about Target, I stopped going there and won't go back.

People on this thread have said boycotts don't work, but when sportsmen quit buying at Hechingers and K Mart because of their anti gun donations, their business suffered greatly. Hechinger is gone, K Mart is a shell of it's former self, and where is Rosie O'Donnell working now?

One other thing. It's kind of funny, but, whatever money I donate to the Salvation Army, I always seem to get back. If I throw 5, 10, 20 dollars into the kettle when I see them, within a day or so I seem to find money in a coat pocket I haven't worn for a while, or a rebate check I have long forgotten about comes, or something else happens. Strange.

Don't misunderstand me, there are two charities I give to. Salvation Army and St. Judes. I just don't see the need to boycott a store unless they are only singling out one specific charity.

I see things different. When a store you shop at takes it's profits and gives them to a group that is totally against all you stand for, you in the end are helping to fund your own destruction. Principles are sometimes tough to adhere to.

Target says they cannot discriminate and if Salvation Army can put someone out front then they cannot refuse "gays for aids victims" from soliciting.

Bravo Sierra. Target can allow or disallow whomever they choose. It's private property. To say that they would have to allow every group access, no matter how vile, is nonsense.

How does one achieve an organism, anyway?

Why don't you ask your Pastor? But then maybe this should be something private between your husband and you.

I am always amazed at self-rightous "Christian" women posting things like this on a forum open to the public.
