A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
received this in my email June 10th, the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

Thanks for your concern, my eyes have good days and bad days. Can't lurk as much I used to but the upside is that I'm not sitting sedentary as much and am staying caught up with my work better now.
Miss spending time here though.

glad you are aware of an improvement. We miss having you around. I have been here much of today in between playing Cinderella.. need to bathe & get ready to go out. I have had fun reading everyone's post so far today. We surely are a mixed bag group.. eclectic for sure!
The dogs are looking at me & running to door. I told them it is raining. They are pretty spoiled with major excursions daily & their meager 35 minute romp in woods, I guess, just didn't' cut it!
Aqua or anyone with dogs. My new dog Toby has much longer hair than Oliver. He has been unbelievably loaded with burrs .. And all different kinds. I cant even get most of them out & the next day they are all back. Ideas? I was wondering if a cream rinse would make them easier to remove. the dogs are in water all the time so rinse would probably come off. I was also thinking of finding the pet clippers & taking an inch or more off. What do you others with pets w/long hair do?

The mold is terrible also.If I were you I'd put eradicating the mold at the very tip-top of my list. Mold is beginning to be numbered as a suspect more health issues all the time. Mold can make a building "sick"; toxic to its inhabitants. Mold spreads easily, especially in cool, damp conditions. Mold spores get into the lungs. Mold can live and spread in the human body. Some byproducts of mold are carcinogenic.
Keep cleaning everything you can as rapidly as you can. Try get everything really dried out while it's waiting to be cleaned or disposed of. Keep fans on, air circulating through. Any mold that's where you can see it should be neutralized with vinegar or Lysol.
Just keep bangin away at it. Good luck.

Happy Send A Smile DayHey, it worked!
BTW: What're THOSE boots made for??
A family on vacation came upon a cowboy on his horse and Dad stopped the car and got the kids out so they could meet a "real cowboy". He asked the cowpoke to explain all of his gear to the kids, and the man obliged.
"Kids," he said, "I wear this hat to keep the sun off my face and the rain off of my head. I wear these chaps so the chaparral don't shred my legs. I wear this pistol to protect the herd from predators. And I wear these tennis shoes so folks won't mistake me for a truck driver."

LOL! That's good.
More than anything, Bob wanted to be a cowpoke. Taking pity on him, a rancher decided to hire the lad and give him a chance.
"This," he said, showing him a rope, "is a lariat. We use it to catch cows."
"I see," said Bob, trying to seem knowledgeable as he examined the lariat. "And what do you use for bait?"

How is babysitting for grandkids going?Going very well. Busy, busy day today decked out in my red t-shirt.
Took the boys to the golf course today and played 18 holes. Even managed to sink a hole-in-one off the 4th tee. Farther down the line though, I had a lot of trouble on the 11th hole. For the life of me I couldn't get that ball through the windmill. :)

Trimming the dogs fur and using conditioner sounds like a good solution to the problem. Good luck.

P.S. Hope you are both doing well. Thinking of you and what you went through with the hurricane.

Oh, you meant this windmill. :)

"Took the boys to the golf course today and played 18 holes. Even managed to sink a hole-in-one off the 4th tee"Way to go!!! I come from a family of golfers. Playing golf is a lot harder then it looks. The first time I played 18 holes was quite a wake up call...lol, I was exhausted afterwards. But had a lot of fun.
